I agree, though I 've not read up on your ticket to work, what gets me is in order to qualify for any SS benefits as disabled, you cannot work; yet they try getting you back to work? That just does not make sense in my mind. If you are disabled, how can you work?

Social security pays disability benefits ONLY to those who are unable to work

If you CAN work, then you are not disabled and not entitled to benefits through disability or SSI program

All I say is from own experiences, truthful from my point of view-I have positive outlook on life. I try to be helpful, am a good listener, am an outgoing people person.

I'm a Make-a-Difference person in that I do good deeds everyday, help others as I can..

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you

courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

onlinesales - this is what the logic would be about ssdi. that you cant work at all and that is why you get ssdi. but the truth is that there is a minimun amount that a disabled person can earn from working and still have eligibility for ssdi. usually it is between $800-$1000 a month.

In response to the statement that if you can work you're not disabled, the definition of "disabled" in regards to being eligible for benefits doesn't exactly mean that you're not able to work AT ALL. It can also mean that you're not able to consistently work to support yourself. Think - if you're only well enough to work one or two days a month how can you support yourself?

In regards to the back to work incentives and monetary threshold that you're allowed to earn while being defined as disabled (which I might add IS NOT an easy task, is nothing more than a trick to challenge your eligibility at some point down the road. The real earnings amount without raising flags & jeopardizing your only source of income while being disabled is actually under $500.

To those in this thread that seem to be suggesting someone is getting over on the system: as a person that consistently earned six figures who in their right mind would want to live off disability benefits? Please God take away this disability and give me the health to earn my old paycheck.

UnfortunateLY, when Vocational Rehabilitation stepped in, offered to find me job WITH ACCOMMODATION, at Goodwill, no less, they FAILED toi advise me such job is temporary for 3 months-That's I'd lose my disability pending case because i worked whilst waiting on such

MEANWHILE, supervisor at goodwill could NOT hire me as my doctors would NOT RELEASE me to work -she, too advised me if I don't come to work, if I do not do enough, they can fire me at any time AND she said speak with your lawyer as I will lose my benefits and all my back pay-she suggested to come back for TICKET TO WORK PROGRAM BUT-same will hold true, if I cannot come to work for whatever reason, if i am continually late or need to take too many breaks or sit down, if I cannot do the job or do quota, etc they can fire me for whatever reason they wish

Just swell...She said wi would nOT be able to sit and rest; she said I would oNLY get morning 10 minute break and afternoon one-plus half hour off for lunch, no smoking breaks either; if I have problem with incontinence, IBS or my bladder I MUST wear a diaper-i cannot simply walk off my job to use the restroom-I asked what's ACCOMODATION all about then?

All I say is from own experiences, truthful from my point of view-I have positive outlook on life. I try to be helpful, am a good listener, am an outgoing people person.

"I asked what's ACCOMODATION all about then?" Good question! Most people don't know what a person goes through with a disability.
