MDJunction to me

2steveb" In life we all have trials and tribulations to endure weather it be physical, mental or social. For me personally when i encountered MDJunction i was astounded. Since i joined MDJunction to me it has been a god send and a life saver. I have met and been able to converse freely with so many people in the same situation as myself, (that alone is a big help, to know your not alone) to be able to discuss and get good advice from a braud section of people. One of lifes hardest things is to discuss personal issues with friends/family and yet the mdj family is non judgmental and you will be made totally welcome to talk through any issue thats on your mind. There are forums for every known issue to mankind, to me MDJ.com has become my family extension, id be lost without these good people and the extremely good guide lines that group leaders help us all with to keep threads topical and friendly." Can someone please explain to me about the bank account info? I seen on another post that you have to have a separate account for pay back. Is this true? Can it just be a savings account or what kind of an account does it have to be? Mine is for a minor so how does that differ? I hear you have to make sure you keep your balance low because they check it. Do you have to keep up with how you spend the money? Why? How often do they check on all this? I hear of people taking their check out once it is deposited why is this? Do you have to keep track of how you spend your back pay? How does any of this interfere with taxes if at all?

I know this is alot of questions and I am sorry for that. I am doing my best to learn all I can. It is interesting to hear everyone's thoughts and experiences Smile

I believe you only have to keep a record if you're the payee for someone that SSA deemed not capable of handling their own money. I don't believe the same rules apply to a minor child, the money should go straight into your regular bank account.

You can just have one account. Either checking or savings. I agree w/Elvis as to them checking. The only other thing I can think of, is if it's SSI, and not SSD.

I am sure I may be laughed at but I am truly dumb to this all! I get so confused when it comes to SSI, SSDI and all this stuff. I have my first meeting with my lawyer Oct. 27 and I hope that helps. I just received my daughter's first denial Sept. 20. Heck at this point I am not even sure if I should have gotten a lawyer or if he is even the right one. When I started this whole process in Dec. 2010 I was told by all my daughter's health professions how easy it was going to be to get help for my daughter. Oh if I only knew lol. There is so much to learn and so much red tape to get threw. I swear if it wasn't in my daughter's best interest I would just give up. I keep hearing of all these stories and it just worries me more. Heck I had know idea which to even to apply for. I keep hearing of all the letters and judges it is insane. I had no idea we even had to go to court. So now reading my own post I guess it is really be I do have a lawyer now if I only got the right one Sad

We have the most dysfunctional system for "assistance" in this country. No one agency seems to know - or want to know - what help is available to anyone. We have to learn by word of mouth.

*Try the "211" service in your area (it is like 411, but for social services rather than phone numbers) - there may be additional programs to help you and your minor child.

*Contact the United Way in your area - they are kind of an umbrella group for the various agencies and sometimes, sometime they can help with more than one option.

Best of luck!

Yes SSI is going to look at your financial assets. As far as other type of help could you be more specific. Since this is a minor child you may get help with medical expenses.
