Hey guys, I recieve SSDI. I applied by myself and was awarded the first time. No fuss no muss no lawyer. I have read on here that it is hard to get a positive result for some of you. Maybe I was reviewed by a softie, I don't know. Either that, or the person who did me was as crazy as I am. (lololol) Anyway my suggestion is this....when you apply, write & write & write on that application. Add extra sheets of writing. That's what I did. Tell them every single detail of your life that is affected by your condition or conditions and mention them all, no matter how small. Make sure that your Dr. or Dr's believe that you are worthy of the award. They will be the one's sending the reports of your conditions to the disability board.

Very funny Scotty; now beam down my clothes.

Here lies,
All cold and hard,
The last damn dog,
That pooped in my yard!

Welcome morningglory! I am so glad you are here!

I DID write extra papers and my doctor even wrote SSD a 4 page letter telling them why I cannot work any longer. Still, I have been denied twice already. It is very frustrating, to say the least.

One thing I did learn is that it is not necessarily what illnesses you have, but it is what they do to you that makes you not able to work. For instance, with me, I am unable to sit for longer than 15 minutes at a time in a 2-3 hr period behind a desk, as my neuropathy gets worse. I also cannot stand for more than around 20 minutes in a 2 hour range or walk any longer than 1/2 block. I am no longer able to concentrate or focus, I make a lot of mistakes like with balancing the checkbook, that sort of thing, that used to come naturally for me.

My major maladies are the degenerative arthritis in my spine and COPD. I am in a wheelchair because I can't walk for more than 10 feet and can't breath enough to walk 5 feet. lolol I'm sorry for the hell the're putting you through, mam. You may have to get a lawyer. Almost everybody who does will recieve a positive award.

Morningglory, I do have a disability advocate working on the case for me now. I hope they do a good job. They claim to have a 97 percent winning record.
