Well, after quite a few weeks of success, I fell asleep at my desk yesterday. And it wasn't my boss that caught me. It was HER boss. So I'm not happy. I went home after that because I do have FMLA paperwork about my "condition" so I thought it would best to use it. My appt with the sleep doc got changed to OCTOBER so I have awhile before I can see him, unless there is a cancellation......I'm scared to see my boss today because the Division Supervisor might have told her......I don't know.
Migraine headaches since age 11, arthritis and bulging disks in the c3-c7 area of my neck, scar tissue on my left foot that keeps me from doing anything involving being on my feet for long. Depression since about the age of 18, anxiety and anxiety attacks. Sleep apnea (I use my Bipap religiously)I still have daytime sleepiness occasionally......

I'm an Advocate

This is a known, documented, physical disorder and all management of yours should be made aware of it. It is something that laws make a statement about. Do mind the conditions, meds, etc and be positive about all you have accomplished and matter of fact on those things yet to be accomplished. Keep a medical diary, did this, results date: did that results, date.

You only have one life, you can't change the one you have and so you have to make it be the best fit to normalcy possible.

Good luck

Cicero

I have to tell you cicero.......that was one of the most honest, sincere and supportive comments I think I've ever gotten! Tears in my eyes. Thanks so much!

I really did find help in your answer! I worry so much about what my boss might "do" to me if I get caught sleeping at my desk, and if they will try to fire me. I'm kind of a "dinosaur" around here. That's what they always call the "older" folks who may not be up to par on technical things and just maybe slower than the rest. I work in an environment with macho men, macho women, and a dislike for civilians. I've fought for 27 years to be considered a worthwhile person here, but it's not ever gonna happen. Thanks again......
