MDJunction to me

cinderella"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

Hello everyone,

I hope that people read this and we can all stay in contact with eachother.

I'm in my early 20's and was diagnosed with Melanoma when I was 15.

I've had multiple surgeries since. It's really been hard on me and my family.

I have quite a bit of scarring from the surgeries and it's really done so much damage to my self esteem.

I know most people probably think why I'm worried about the way I look, when I should be happy the surgery was successful---but honestly, I just noticed how much I've changed since my surgery. It makes me sad sometimes.

I'm hoping I can connect with other survivors out there..

add me as a friend and share with me your story if you want to Smile

Hi misschelle,

I am very sorry about your experience with melanoma.

Truthfully, I would say that you really shouldn`t worry too much about how you look, when the most important thing is that you are alive!

But I also understand that for a young girl, the look is also important. From your description I can`t really understand, what is the thing that bothers you?

From experience with my aunt (stage 3 melanoma in 2007) I can say, that she was also very worried about her look; therefore, she didnt even allow any chemo or radiotherapy to be used in order to treat her. She was too disappointed with the possible side-effects that her oncologist had to find another treatment method. Well, but he did it (my aunt was treated with virotherapy in Latvia) and she really didn`t have severe side-effects. She`s been NED for 2 years and have kept her look.

Anyhow, feel free to write me, if you want someone to talk to!

i am also in my early 20s and with melanoma. i have only had one surgey so far but more to come. i have a horrid scar on my forhead now and it is very bothersome. i know how you feel with dealing with the changes. i actually cried with the doctor took my bandages off and showed it to me. he told me that a scar is not nearly as bad as the lesion i had be carrying around and that the scar would be my battle scar for survival.

i hope this helps. im here to talk if you need to.

Hi,

Scar is not so really bad. But if you are so much worried about your looks then you can take a treatment to remove your scar.

I hope this may help you. please update my knowldege for removing scars of surgery.
