thanks all of you for being open and sharing, what a great help. my wife (65 yrs. old) had shingles outbreak on hip and down her leg, took valtrex within 48 hrs. of rash appearing...after about 2 wks. terrible pain was gone and rash started healing, but then was numb in perineum/saddle area (between vagina and rectum), fortunately is not incontinate, but has no feeling inside, can't feel when urinates or moves her bowels...also has weird numb feeling in her leg (not tingling), and intense feeling up her rectum (not changed with bowel movement) ... docs all say just wait 2-3 months and will recover because the nerves have been stunned, but it seems to be getting worse everyday...she had an MRI of back just in case but was totally normal ... she is very frightened ... anyone ever had anything like this? thanks all very much

Have had the leg thing. It is weird, just like it not there. You can move it and all, but there is no sensation there. Can and does go away. Then eerves have been overexcited during the outbreak and now that they are not being excited, it feels numb becay=use of the lack of stimulation of the nerves. As they get used to the normal state of the body, it starts to go away.

Hi Brenda, Ihave heard of the neurological part of this disease, I feel for you.

Im in the process where the blisters are starting to get hard. Im not looking forward to any more nerve pain. It gets to be so tireing

Hope your feeling better soon, Do you see a neurologist for these extra symptoms?

HIDDEN BUTTERFLY: thanks so much, you're the first person to respond with this numbness problem. You said "it can and does go away." How long did it take to go away? Did you have it only in your leg, or anywhere else? Did any meds help? It's almost 4 months now for my wife, and instead of getting better, it's actually getting worse, spreading thru more of her leg and butt. Thanks very much for any other info you can share.

For me it took about three months, but I get small bouts of it once in a while. Sometimes if I am in a certian position for an extended period of time it will act up again and can take days to get the feeling back. Has she talked to her doc about the possibility of permanant nerve damage?

Hi Im in my second week of pain. I didn't see your post, Im sorry. I swear this acts just like having the flu. Im so tired and still working.

Im afraid of nerve damage as well, because of my nerve damage from RSD.

Yes I will probably get it again, hoping not, too painful.

Took a nap to be off to work again, can't wait until the weekend. I think I will be sleeping lots

Always Caring,

Patty

Oh God Patty how can you work? I hope they are understanding too. My last bout I was out of work for around one month, couldn't shake the fevers, and they were pretty understanding. I am now unemployed and interviews are hard, if you can get any.

This job is pretty easy, just pass meds, assist with a bath and chart a lot. So I get to sit often. Though I am hypersactive, this is a special job. I think I got very lucky. We couldnt make it with one income, so no choice.

Always caring

I know, I am sure that being unemployed isn't helping the situation. This will get better and I will be back working with the horses. I can't work with the when I am on the Oxycotin. I just wish I would sleep and wake up fine. Not going to happen. I have a ton of things to be thankful for...... I'll let you know when they come to minde lol......

Keep strong. I will pray for all of us !!!!!!!!!!!

Kayla, I have so many reactions to meds I can only take Darvocet and neurotin. the combo seems to help.

Its funny evertime I get an itch, I search for more Shingles. Mine still haven't cleared up yet. Hope they make an exit soon LOL
