Hi, my name is Emily and although I've known for quite a while that i've had a problems I'm finally ready to get help.

I'm 19 now, and I lost my virginity at age 15 to a barely 14 year old. I've only had two physical partners over the years, but my problems is more about lust.

I've cheated on everyone I've ever dated. I fooled around with my best friend's boyfriend. And most recently had cyber sex with my long distance finacee's best friend. He has chosen to continue our relationship and I have chosen to get help.

I want to stop distroying great relationships because I can't control myself. I flirt, I cheat, I come on to people I know I can't and shouldn't. I've made a lot of mistakes and I'm here to try and learn to control my complusions.

Great start emily. I pray, too. Get help. Get support. You know these are relational deficits. Try to be faithful and have someone accountable for that. The good news is that you know your problem.

Thanks, I don't pray I'm not a Christian. My fiancee' does support me for the most part. I've never had any luck with therapists though. I think if I avoid my triggers I should be okay.

It's a good insight that you have triggers. It is also important that you want to stop all of these behaviors. How do you intend to avoid your triggers?

Well for starters I take a extended release version of xanax at night to keep my anxiety at bay the next day. I know that xanax lowers my ability to control what i do. It's kind of like being drunk. Normally I forget what i've done within the first few hours after taking it, and thats when i can be the most reckless. So I'm starting with not going out or socializing with anyone but my fiancee after i've taken it.

Emily, there are 12-step programs that may help. I know you are not Christian, but you can still benefit. The 12-step programs do require you to give in to a "higher power", but that does not have to be Jesus or God or Buddha or whatever. It can be the group itself. I did not grow up in a religious house so I know from where you speak. Religion and spirituality are completely separate. You can have one but not the other. The former won't help you but the latter will.

I do not know where you live, but 12-step programs for sex addiction can be hard to find. If that is the case, you can go to an AA meeting - they will welcome ANY addict no matter what because they started this whole thing and they understand.
