Hi All,

I have had scoliosis since I was five. That means I'm coming up on 40 years dealing with this. Had a brace - also had three concussions from falling over (off a chair, in the back of a station wagon & a kid ran into me on the playground). Had surgery when I was eleven. Fused at my shoulders and hips. Not a lot of problems. I stay healthy. However, last year when my pain got worse and I was seeking an evaluation for physical therapy - while I was getting my FMLA paperwork certified - several co-workers retaliated against me for coming in late or taking time of for medical issues. My supervisor & manager would not acknowledge this as retaliation. They called in 'personality conflicts.' I ended up quitting my job (this went on for nine months between a written reprimand on me and filing a grievance which was denied)the emotional stress and physical pain were too much for me. I'm trying to figure out if I have enough to file a suit or not. I hate to take it to that level but I watched this be done to another woman also dealing with a chronic condition several years before. So I knew what was being done to me.

Any one else have any experiences with employers like mine? Any advice?

Warm welcome to You Miranda Smileto this support group! Happy that you have joined us!! Have not had surgery for my scoliosis as it is mild, plus ever since the fibromyalgia hit my life in a very dramatic fashion(super challenged with fibro for 15 years moderate severely to severely affected) have not been able to work/not in position to work- so cannot offer any advice to you with your work situation either, yet, am hoping other members here will be able to help you out/offer advice. It is not good to hear that you have had such a tough time- been treated so unfairly at work- heart plus prayers go out to you big time!!! Truly hoping for a turn around in the employment situation for you- for justice, understanding as well as compassion to come your way!!

Take most excellent care of YOU. Hoping for a good outcome for You in near future as well as for you to be treated with the total respect you fully deserve. Rooting mightily for You. Asking heaven to send many angels plus earth angels to You, too!

Keep us in the loop, please.

Sending super gentle hugs to You, love Clarita SmileSilly

Hi Miranda, I wish I was able to help you with the work side of things, but I guess in some respects Im lucky that I cant, as Ive always had more helpful employers. I do wish you the best of luck with it. It really is wrong how some people can treat others because of disabilities.

Ive also got scoliosis, was diagnosed when I was 10, 17 years ago. I know my pain has gotten much worse over the years, and has forced me to stop working already. Im glad you managed to carry on for so long. I do hope the pain lessens though.

All the best, gentle caring hugs xxx emily xxx

Emily & Clarita - Thank you so much for the support. Things are getting better. I have a job interview this Tuesday. I'm waiting to hear back on a job with the county as well.

Clarita - your prayers mean so much to me. Thank you.

I hope you are well these days too. I've been trying to exercise again. Taking it slow so I don't hurt myself. I'm feeling stronger emotionally and physically. SO thankful to have that.

Gentle hugs & much love - Miranda

Miranda, Good to hear that things are getting better for you. How was the job interview on Tuesday, plus have you heard back from the other job?

Keeping you in my prayers sweetpea!

Happy that you are feeling stronger emotionally plus physically- good news!!

Am much challenged physically yet this weather here in the UK is pretty crazy- feel like a rusty C3PO lol, not good for my back or the fibro or the cfs!! Still this weekend will have a professional massage as well as a manicure so really looking forward to this!!!!

Sending super gentle hugs, healing light , and much affection, love Clarita Smile
