MDJunction to me

HiddenButterfly"All I can say is that this has been the best place ever. It has been six to seven months since I joined, and I have learned so much. I now believe in myself and accept myself on a completely different level. The people on MDJunction has been so supportive and accepting that I have been able to adopt it into my personal life. That has reduced a lot of stress in my life. Thanks to all." (HiddenButterfly)

Hello1 I used to be a member and have been awol for quite awhile. I hope you are all doing well. I am sorry for those of you experiencing pain and for those of you new to a diagnosis.

I believe I had scoliosis as a baby because I did not meet the milestones typical of children my age- like sitting up, crawling, walking, even holding my head up. Mom gave up on me. Dad didn't and I eventually caught up.

Pain developed in my shoulder blade at age seven and there were tell tale signs but the doctor dismissed my mom's concern until I was ten years old when the diagnosis was made. I wore a Milwaukee brace for four years and then had surgery when my curvature went to sixty eight degrees.

The older I get I find I apparently am limited due to the Harrington rod which in the seventies was a steel rod so there is no flexibility of my spine. I have back pain with walking, sitting, standing. I can't lay on my left side. I can't bend forward and I have arthritis in almost every body part imaginable.

But I do the best I can.

Peace. Mustardo16

thank you Clarita. I appreciate your caring. Mustard

I don't remember when I wrote that message but I have gone to my medical doctor after the pain was unbearable. I now use a cane, she did x-rays and found arthritis in my spine and some kind of disc issue. She gave me pain medicine that works real well for me so I only take it when necessary.
