I'm so thankful for all the help I've received in my life concerning my illness. I've experienced hallucinations, delusions, clarity of mind , catatonic state, bad inner voices and thoughts ... yet I kept on fighting to get my sanity back. I've been lost and found mentally. Due to the proper meds I can now find healthy coping skills to much of what I've listed. I'm not going to toot my own horn because my faith system (has been helpful to me) and every person that ever attempted to HELP me is part of my journey through my life, only to be lived though by me. On a good day I will tell you I'm finding the good from a illness that at times leaves me defeated clinging to life by a strand of hope. Sometimes I think my suffering is useless then I even dare to think that I've experienced growth in learning to LOVE un-conditionally. That's my goal in life. Thanks for reading my story.

Thanks Joy,

As I get older I learn more and more ... I still got a ways to go ... smile! I agree with your profile I'm here for support and my opinion is just that "my opinion". I'm trying to challenge myself to think of more of my positive times then when I would be on the brink of despair. And I'm trying to live outside of my disease ... just by doing the basics like getting out more, calling long lost friends, going to dinner and even maybe a movie. So many times I'm in my own world trying to think my way out of this illness. I'm starting to beieve my time would be better spent doing something else. How do you cope with your disorder? Blessing!

I think that anyone who can admit that their opinion is just that an opinion is well on their way to mental health. There are so many who live in the land of delusion but don't have what is called classical delusions. They don't see dragons and such but they see life and themselves as far better but some worse than things really are.

I work everyday to get past challenges that would baffle some one else. I get frustrated sometimes because our illnesses are looked at poorly. There are some really good people out there with this disease. I wish they all would see the good in us more so than the things that make them standoffish.

In some ways I'm thankful for what I have. I can have achievements on an everyday basis. My mental health is something worked for.

My personal opinion is the people that judge just haven't been sick enough because if they had been they wouldn't be judging so much Smile

Hey MMollie,

I think I know just what you mean. What is easy for others, we who have mental disorders struggle to do or to understand and cope with just everyday life.Wink Sometimes I've wished I was never born then other days I embrace my difficulties because I have learned many good things from "my struggle" with schizophrenia etc... I've learned to love my partner un-conditionally and even some of my friends but especially my family. Sometimes I think too much and wish I could just enjoy my day and life. My life is best lived when "I let one day naturally un-fold before me and see the beauty in it" and then learn from my past. I consider myself still in the race even if I have to limp to the finish line ... laughing ... more like crawl instead. Peace 2U

Even if you don't have a mental disorder and there is something that you can't get, people will think your stupid or something. People are far too judgmental. I do think there are certain abilities or ways of looking at things that some of us lack and will be a problem functioning. That I would agree to as a mental illness but to say if someone doesn't learn as fast as I do or do as well at a task as I do, I think of as childish and a bit narcissistic. We don't all need to be the same but we do all need to be able to function.

Hi there barelymanic,

Wow what a good point you brought up. I'm sometimes am a slow learner and change is hard for me, so when I was working it was really difficult to fit in because just doing my job was the easy part it was the social setting and the competiveness that I couldn't handle. My co-workers were judgemental but I managed to stay employed until the on-set of my illness which resulted in several breakdowns. I no longer have to compair myself to others I'm learning how to be just "me". Peace2U Wink
