I was amazed to find this group, but glad. I was diagnosed more than 20 years ago, but told that it was not much of a problem. I have had back pain since my early teens, and nothing seems to help. Stretching does reduce pain a bit, but not totally. Anyone got some excercises which have resulted in a marked reduction in pain?

hi glad to find yet another victim of this nightmare, sorry but that is what it is to me... i go to the pool and walk in the water for physio, that actually helps a bit, im on alot of medications for the pain, but i've been living with this pain for about 15 to 20 years as well, i have alot of children and unfortunatley my last pregnancy has left me fairly crippled, i have to use a walking stick to get about and my life consists of what time it is. i would love to be able to communicate with you more if you would like to message me i will reply..xxxx cinderella

PDP-

There is a lot of pain that comes with scheuermann's kyphosis. I at first was told to do pyhsical thearpy. I went one day and the doctor who had just measured the curve of my kyphosis called me and told me to stop. He said it will not help as my curve was to large. This doctor thought it was a 60 degree curve at the time and when measured again the right way it turned out it was at 110 degrees. The exercising at this time would only aggiate or make the pain worce. Nothing would improve my scheuermann's kyphsosis except surgery. Walking, sitting, bending, lifting, just about everything will increase the pain. If your curve is still mild as in under 60 then mabey exercising will help improve the mucles. Please read the post under surgery for scheuermann's kyphosis, I feel this will help you some.
