When you see your consaultant he should tell you if you ask. Have you had any other scans? Like an MRI? It might be nerve damage.
Hope this helps,

Well… I'm new here and i guess i'll just start off by saying telling my story. I'm a girl and I am 15 years old, almost 16, and was diagnosed with Sheuermann's in September of 2011 when i was 14. My curve is around 80 degrees, and I'm done growing so my doctor told me that i should get the surgery as soon as possible. I have postponed it three time because I'm so afraid. Is there anyone who could tell me what to expect? From what I have read, you get taller, I've seen between 2-6 inches, and I r...

Hi Endlessly, I understand about the negative comments. I've been told several times by complete strangers that I should stand up straight. Now I just wait for the next time it will happen and I assume everyone who doesn't say it is thinking it. I now tend to bring up my SK when I first meet people so they know my hunching over isn't on purpose and I'm not just some lazy person. I'm sorry you were treated negatively about something that can't be changed and I hope you've found some comfort i...

Hi. I am so excited to have stumbled across this group when looking for updated information on SK. Just reading through some of the posts amazed me because for the first time in my life (all 45 years of it) I’m hearing people talk about the same concerns I’ve had since I was a teenager. Other than my father and great aunt, I’ve never met anyone else with SK so I’ve never been able to talk with someone who really understands about the pain, the embarrassment, and the obsession with hoodies #6...

Blue, it is good to be here. First of all Im not a DR so i am speaking from a lot of experiance. Having said that, my opinion is that everytime i seen a physical therapist, not to long after the session i would be in more pain than i was when i walked in the office. So in short i have never benefitted from any PT/OT, chiropractor, message therapist and pain management. My opinion is also, that if you dont feel like it is helping than it is most likely not. I did what I was told by drs for 8 yrs ...

I know how you feel. I'm always wearing a hoodie or some sort of baggie windbreaker and I'm always 'back-watching' in anything reflective: car windows, store windows, and mirrors. I'm always going back and forth between telling myself, Oh, you look fine. and, Jesus, I'm hideious. It's really disheartening and I'm very depressed, but I'm trying to get used to it and go out and do things regardless of how bad I feel. I'm currently trying to get myself to go to the gym, but I'm having a hard ti...

I'm going through something similar. Random tension like headaches last in severity from weak to please just shoot me right now and in length, anywhere from 30 minutes to 10+ days. They stopped after a year and a half. I was fine for a short period of time then started getting back pain. Now this back and neck pain is so bad, I can't even begin to describe it. It has really messed up my life, as I can not do anything when in bad pain. Had an mri, have herniated and bulging discs, nerve impingeme...

Well when I was 18 I saw an orthopedic surgeon and he told me that some girls are ashamed when they start developing breasts so they hunch their shoulders forward because their ashamed. HAHAHA. It depends on the orthopedic surgeon but normally it takes a couple of months to get in for an appt and usually at least a couple of months after that to have the surgery. I had surgery under Dr. Keith Bridwell of St. Louis, MO who is one of the best spine surgeons in the US. I would recommend him highly!...

Did they measure what degree her curve is? Also how old is she? My back started curving when I was 12 and I was never diagnosed until I was 22. I ended up having surgery 2 1/2 years ago and my curve went from 75 to 35 degrees. I have a lot less pain and my back isnt perfect but it is a lot better than it was....

Nerve damage is a risk you take from having surgery. No doctor can predict everything is going to be fine. When you have surgery they have to cut through nerve and muscle which means you have to heal and sometimes it doesnt always go away when everything regenerates. I still have nerve pain from surgery and some numbnesss in my back slightly from my fusion but I don't blame the doctor for that. It is a risk you take and you sign documents stating you accept that risk and you can't go after a sur...

Hi guys,I had surgery 2 1/2 years ago and I can do everything normally like before surgery. I never really did sports but I can run and I walk 6 miles everyday. I would definately say make sure you walk a lot after surgery because it really helps. Also swimming helps a lot especially doing the back stroke because you definately need to strengthen your shoulders because mine pulled forward ALOT since surgery and its because i never strengthened them. Now i am exercising everyday to fight to keep...

Both myself and my 2 children have SD mine was diagnosed late 30+ my son at 10 and my daughter at 14. My son was braced for 3 years so I do know the emotional rollercoaster it causes. He had numerous braces during the 3 years and sorry to say none of them did anything to help. They wanted to do a platser cast and make him a fibreglass body brace but the results of the xray showed his hips were so far out of alignment he would never be able to walk with it on or tolerate it.
He had some awful ...
