Hi all.. here's an interesting tidbit that I learned from a friend of mine. She had been diagnosed with RA,suffered through it, and then about a year later she developed Hodgkins lymphoma( cancer.) She had to receive a bone marrow transplant, and also she underwent serious chemotherapy. Her RA went into remission ( in 1997) and has not come back. (Thankfully neither has her Hodgkins!)

Her oncologist told her that in Europe they use Bone Marrow Transplants to "cure" or at least put RA and other diseases in remission.

Naturally, I had to do some research Smile ( you know me....)

Here is a little of what I found:

http://www.goldscout.com/bmt2.html

http://www.abc.net.au/rn/talks/8.30/helthrpt/stories/ s707546.htm

****************************************************

There are more but they're very technical and scientific.... and VERY long, so I just included these.

Something I'd never heard of... so it was interesting to me. Hope it is to you too! Smile

Thanks Karen. Its good to see the word CURE with regard to RA. Sounds like they still have much work to do but - also sounds like we need to watch this and hope for much progress.
