MDJunction to me

aTinaL"To me, Mdjunction comes down to motivation. The support and information I have found here motivated me to take a very proactive stance regarding my illness. This led me to find medication and doctors that are giving me my life back.
More important than even the motivation, though, is the friendship I have found at MDJ. I have made some of the best friends of my entire life right here in this group. Even though most of us have never met, it feels as if we have known each other for years.
If Angels walk among us, and I believe that they do, most of them are here at MDJ.

So recently diagnosed and my dr. says on friday she will prescribe me some "New" meds on Monday--Meaning today. So i just got a call and the nurse says she is increasing my Gabapentin -- when I questioned the nurse about it, she tells me, "yes your right, it is for neurolical problems but also for joint pain!" So I just called around to 5 different pharmacies and they all agreed to my suspicion of what Gaapentin is--a medication for NEUROLOGICAL problems UUGGGHH!! What is my Dr. of 15 yrs thinking??? I am already on 1800 mgs for my Neuropathy and Seizure disorders. What is another 100 mgs going to do for my joint pain??????? I literally could just scream! Or cry... I wish I didn't feel this way, but I do. Any suggestions??

Thanks,

Jackie...

RAD is a disease that needs treatment to slow down progression and hopefully put one in remission.

I don't understand why you are not recieving proper treatment.

NSAIDs, Prednisone, pain meds help symptoms, but do nothing in treating the disease.

DMARDs, Biologicals are the weapons that attack RAD.

Aggressive treatment has been proven to be a huge factor in successful treatment.

Perhaps, you might consider another doc?

Jackie, I agree with you that Gabapentin does nothing for joint pain. I've been on 1800mg daily for a year for trigeminal nerve damage and neuropthy and it sure hasn't touched the RAD pain. I'd be mamking phone calls to doc or setting up another appt demanding an explanation and other help for the RAD. Is this a Rheumotologist?

Yes I will be able to see a specialist AFTER May 1st, once I have official insurance. I have just straight Medicaid right now, next week I will have Molina with my Medicaid. Right now it is just so frustrating. Thank you for all your support, this is the best support web-site I could ask for.

Hugs to all of you Smile

Yes, it is next Tue. YAH!

Many times family docs are afraid to begin RAD meds. So they wait till a specialist does it.

Very glad you will begin treatment soon.

Lots of Hugs
