Just a quick pole for everyone on Prednisone. Do you love it, hate it, or both?

Love it cause it helps me breathe;and according to the Drs does many more magical things; hate it cause it has many side effects the two least of which are that it makes you eat more and I feel like a cabbage patch doll. Have been on it non stop for over 4 years

Love it. Helps me to walk,but hate the side affects, weight gain, puffiness,etc.

hate it...weight gain was horrible, AND it didn't work that well for me.

Love being on a lose dose (5mg daily) because it helps a little with pain.

Hate being on higher doses because of weight gain. Hate that it weakens your bones, because i just had a femur fracture.

I've been on it for just over 2 weeks, so far its not doing anything to really help and they've upped the dosage twice now trying to help with the pain.

I believe Prednisone usually works fast... What dosage are you on?

as of today, 25mg

In my bad times i've began with 20 or 25mg, one time i got to 40mg. But it has always began working within one or two weeks. That's me, though.

I was on prednisone for 3 years and just kept gaining weight. After that it got to where it didn't seem to doing much for the swelling and pain in my joints. I gained weight that I have not been able to get off. I have been off it for about 2 years now. I also have fibromyalgia and the drugs for that also make you gain weight and I think that is why I haven't lost it. I take Mobic now for the inflammation and pain. It helps some but not as much as the prednisone did. I hope it works for you and gets rid of some of the pain. Jan
