MDJunction to me

fluffyluggage"I found MDJunction at a time when I was struggling with so much. I
was so sick. I found a home, a place where people understood me, when
even my family doubted me. In MDJ, I found a place of refuge, love,
and support. I come here daily, to find my balance, to cope, and to
find that same support I've found from day 1. MDJ is my new family.
The friends I've made here will remain with me for a lifetime.

I washed all the laundry today, then decide I was going to make some new throw pillows, but needed to wash the fabric first. I went in to fold a load and found that the washer has sprung a leak. The drain pan didn't catch it all because it has a hole in it, so water is now in the ceiling of the dining room. Vacuuming water at midnight sucks. I had to wake my hubby because I couldn't move the washer without him. The poor guy hasn't slept in over 36 hours and has to be up at 5am. I have to figure out where the leak is coming from, it isn't from any of the hoses, something underneath but can't see it because there is a panel on the bottom. I hope we don't have to buy a new washing machine because this one is only 1 or 2 years old. For pete's sake my luck just stinks. We bought a dryer soon after the washer and it quit working 2 days outside of the warranty. We didn't buy a warranty either because we had our previous set for 11 years. We bought the same brand as before. I think this house is jinxed. we have lived here 6 years and have had so much stuff break, 2 tvs, a computer monitor, 2 game systems, a new fridge, a new dryer and now a washer. What the heck is going on here? I hope the ceiling dries quickly so mold doesn't set up and all we have to do is paint it, but we will wait a week to make sure it is dry. And with my hubby switching jobs we are kind of tight on money right now. UGH. I just want to scream, would use the punching bag, but had cortisone injections in my wrist and shoulder today. Sorry just super irritated right now.

When it rains it pours. At least inside the home.

Just recently, our truck and a/c unit went out.

Thank goodness we have an ex-SIL that has an A/C buisness and was able to come within 24 hours, check it, order parts, and repair it all in a day.

Cost...nothing but parts at his cost. He had to replace the motor as well as a few more parts. And he filled it with freon paying for it out of his pockets.

Though, he is an ex-SIL we all still love each other dearly and would do anything for each other. He is Zach's/Josh's dad.

Our truck is another matter. Though we have a skilled mechanic doing the job and cost is far less than a dealership it is still very expensive. A few thousand.

Still...we have saved much from this.

And the electric bills....

Draining our finaces about as fast as the heat is draining our bodies.

tonya, they say things come in 3's. Your washer, floor....my truck, A/C....hope we are not waiting for a 3rd "whatever."

Wishing you the best, dear friend.

Hugs

I woke up this morning and the water damage had spread, it seems to have moved along the seam of the sheetrock. now the texture is trying to flake off. I bought a new drain pan, texture and paint which cost $55. We haven't messed with the washer yet, will break it down tomorrow to check to see what can be done. I am afraid the drain was not connected all of the way and am afraid to try to blow it out. We will get a snake in there to see if there is a blockage, since it was still full of water this morning. Wondering if we will need to pull up the linolem in the laundry room to let it dry under there? This happened at the worst possible time. We are still waiting on the guy to get approval to transfer the house to him, and we should know in the next month.

Bits, I am sorry you are going through that. I hope they fix the truck and it isn't as much as expected. Glad you were able to get the ac fixed quickly, especially with this heat wave.

Thanks for the support everyone, I just needed to vent. Sometimes things can be super frustrating and I don't really have anyone to talk to except my husband, and well he is a man...in one ear and out the other. Laughing

I am just glad I had all of the real laundry done.

Okay so relatively good news on the washing machine, it was an internal hose. we found a local (30 miles) appliance parts store and were able to buy the part today for only $5 plus gas. That makes me happy because I can wash laundry again. But I did have to pull up a relatively large section of the linoleum because it was soaking wet underneath. I have the garage fan going on it right now. I will have try to find some linoleum to match, I am hoping I can raid the dumpsters around the building sites out here and they will have the same linoleum. One can hope ;D The drain pan will cover most of the section that had to be pulled up but not all of it. The ceiling in the dining room is not quite dry so painting will wait til next week. The drain is not clogged, it has a pea trap in it and it suctions slowly. My upstairs looks like it exploded because of all of the tools/ shop vac, towels, trash and laundry items outside of the laundry room. I am just so happy we do not have to buy a new washer and it has only cost us @ $60-70 and stress. It could have been much, much worse. Thank you all for listening to my rant. Sometimes I just get so frustrated. I know it is life's little curve balls, but dang it all I am tired of curve balls, let me sit on the bench for awhile. Laughing You all are truly fantastic

Toyna Glad in ways that it is just a hose, and you got a part. I know folks got some good things dumpster diving, good luck.

We just put in new windows, new insulation, and new facing board. After cleaning the music room we found a leak somewhere? leaving false ceiling panels stained and wet. How long has this been going on? My husband knows a plumber (since they were teens) and doesn't want to call. The last time he "fixed" the sprayer to the kitchen sink he did so by placing a Do Not Use sign on it Laughing not really fixed. I'm calling

That is funny for a second, but then I would be like okay when and how are are yo actually going to fix it (for the do not use sign)? I hope you find the leak and it is an easy and inexpensive fix. Sorry you are having to deal with this. but at least you found it now before mold sets up. Good luck

It must be the season for things to go wrong - mine has been A/C units. The one in my car - housing cracked; w/ parts and labor over $1100. Then the the A/C units in our one office at my work - one quit over the 4th of July, and when it got fixed, the next day the second unit quit. Came home from work that day to the house and the outside power unit's fan wasn't turning - 84 inside the house. Couldn't get service people out until Monday - house by Sat. night was 95 inside. Then, the A/C went this last Monday in our other office building. Crazy!!!!! And then, to top it off, my dishwasher started leaking water and soap. I give up. Smile

Like I said, it's been the summer for this kind of crap. Sheesh.
