Hello,

I don't want to be a complainer, but what do you do when it hurts????? Maybe today is not the day to do this, I would rather be encouraging__ so__ maybe later.

Didn't see this post until just now...hopefully you are feeling some better. Don't think for one moment that you are a complainer! RA does cause a multitude of aches and pains. For me, it's mostly my hands and legs that drive me crazy with the RA, other affected areas aren't as bad as those.

For my hands, I often wear Isotoner gloves. They are those driving gloves that have a lot of stretch in them. I have a summer weight pair and it seems like the elasticity of them gives me gentle support and gentle pressure. For some reason they seem to help a lot when my hands are achy. Another thing I do is to put my hands into a sink of very warm water and swish my hands around. The warmth of the water seems to help a lot in easing the pain.

My Rheum. Dr has me on 600 mg of Ibuprofen every 6 hours. It not only helps with the inflammation, but it's helped quite a bit with the discomfort & pain. I can tell it must work because when I don't take it I notice a huge difference!! What does your Dr have you on, med wise, for control, inflammation and pain? If you haven't told him about your continuing discomfort and pain, please let him know so maybe he can prescribe something new, or adjust the meds that you're already on. I've found that even with the meds the pain can often keep me from doing a lot of things. I think that's just the nature of RA...nothing will completely take away the pain sometimes.

Don't worry about being encouraging, sometime when you DO feel better, and when you do find things that help you feel better, then you can share them with us Meanwhile, when you're in pain, etc, don't worry that you're coming off as complaining! You're not, and it's better to talk and share our problems than to keep them to ourselves. That's what a good support group is, friends sharing, and hopefully helping each other along the way. Hugs....Joy
