Enbrel took away RA symptoms, the 4 weeks I was able to take it. When I went in remission (3 months) I was symptom free. When I was in the hospital for flu/pneumonia and had an enormous amount of streroid running in my veins I was RA symptom free.

RA meds have been on hold for several months and I am looking forward to going back.

There are many RA meds and depending on the reaction of each indiviual will be whether the combo will be a success. We keep trying, never lose hope, and usually through trial and error hit the jackpot.

Even if it is not remission our RA symptoms may be controlled well enough to have a good quality of life.

When I am able to use RA meds again, we will be trying Orencia.

Before RA meds I slept all the time. I was tired day and night. I would sleep to get away from the pain.

Now I'm on RA meds...I can go to work and get through the day. Yes I still have pain but it is tolerable.

Before the RA drugs I felt like I was dying....I cried allot...I felt helpless.

RA meds gave me back my life.

No, The RA symptoms don't just go away.....RA drugs and a good lifestyle of healthy habits help you get through it!

I still have horrible days but with my meds, even needing adjustments here and there, I have done alot better and can live my life somewhat. There is always, always hope!

KentGirl: I don't know how long you have known of Your having RA. But some quick advice, do your homework, find out what minerals Your body is lacking and take supplements to boost Your immune system. I strongly believe flares are bought on by three things: 1- poor diet, 2- lack of proper excercise, 3- STRESS.

Beware of drug companies advertising again do Your homework researching the pro vs con of any pill or infusion. Seek out more than one doctor's advice.

Push Your self into yoga or some similiar activity, always stay active physically and mentally. You are what You eat so develop a diet designed to counter swelling, their are tons of inti-inflamtion diets on the web just find one You can live with and won't drive You to give up. Lastly keep a simple diary, writing down a daily activity and what You had eaten that day. Using a diary may help you figure out that a certain food or stressfull event causes Your bogy to flip flop and brings on a flare.

Shep,

Could you give a sample of your diet, supplements, meds, exercise? Maybe a little background before and after changes?

Hugs

Shep, i agree with the others - we want more info. Also, many days its a choice between trying to fix something healthy (and being on the feet too long and getting problems from being busy when you should be resting) and grabbing fast food (allows you to rest but isn't healthy). Along with the info about the holistic methods, could you include recommendations on pulling that lifestyle together. Smile
