Yes, that is a side effect of methotrexate. Luckily for me it was a temporary side effect, once I got use to the med, the hair loss stopped. It wasn't a big concern for me, since I have thick hair.

Hi Ann,

Thanks so much for the information. I've been on Methotrexate for over a yr. now and the hair is coming out. Oh well, hopefully it will stop.Unsure

Dotti, my doctor assured me that once the methotrexate is stopped that it's side effects stop as well Wink

I've gone beyond hair thinning to actual balding. This is so hard to deal with.

I had the balding too but mine was before I began treatment for my thyroid. I'm still thinning but it seemed to get better once I began the right dose of med for my thyroid.

Of course, the best thing is to make sure you're taking the right amount of meds. But....I already told my hubby that if i end up losing my hair and i've done all i can and its still falling out - my decision to make will be a blonde wig or a fiery dark red one. My own hair was very dark brown (now with a bit of gray) so..... that would be a big change. Wink
