On top of the pain this morning after cleaning pool, I also went tanning last night and do believe it was probably stupid but leaving for Florida next week and need a base tan and weather just isn't good. Only stayed in 5 minutes and my face is swelled and rather red this morning. What's everyone know about the meds they are on and sun? I'm not on any heavy RA meds but am on Pred.

Anyone else still tanning? Not sure if it's safe for people with AI issues with or without meds but i figured the VITD couldn't hurt.

Ok Miss Golden Body: It is hard to believe that you just cannot

stop doing the things that are BAD!!! The only tan I get is from

watering the garden...personally, I am afraid of "you know what".

I have a tan on my feet that shows I wear flipflops, and on my upper

bod that shows I watered in my swimmy top....since I have Cherokee

Indian in my blood....a small amount of time gets the job done for

a light tan........my folks are in the Cherokee Indian Nation

Register in Oklahoma....yes, I have a duly authorized American

Indian card certified by the state.....it is fun to carry...but

I have never used it for benefits.

Yeehaw!!! You are some piece of work GOS....wish I was

going with you!!

I have cut way back on staying out in the sun for the last 3 years but how do you go to florida without a base tan? I would fry and be miserable in 30 minutes which can't be good and also ruin my whole week. I don't use salons except for a base when i am going to Florida but with a pool I've always gotten alot of sun. Yes, I have noticed the last few years I don't feel so well after being out to long so I have cut way back on it.

Leaving next Friday. There will be 11 of us there in a house and a condo both on the ocean. Private beach, very ritzy island (Gulf Keys). Parents live 20 min away so will see them everyday also.

I know that people with Lupus shouldn't go in the sun, so it may apply to many autoimmune diseases..

If you are on plaquenil, you aren't supposed to go into the sun much cause the med makes your skin extra sensitive. Which is why I've been laying out in the sun everytime we have had hot weather. Snow Wjite here needs some color very badly.

Have fun in Florida. Bring back some souvineres for the group.

It can really weaken your immune system, so I suggest taking an immune system boster. And use hand sanitizer and what not. And it can make your stomach upset. And (hopefully your doc tells you this too) it can cause a build up of something (don't remember what my doc said it was called) behind your retinas so you have to go see an optomologist 2 weeks, 6 months, and then yearly after you start it. The build up is reversible, all you have to do is stop taking it. But it takes a while to start working.

I can't stay too much in the sun, it upsets my pale skin. I have used those tanning places for short periods of time. I've noticed the better i am the most i can be in the sun, but not too long. I've even got a fever and all-over crappy feeling if i stay too long.

Donna, have LOTS of fun and relaxation in Florida!!!!! Smile And promise you will stay put the days before (no more vacuuming the pool) so you fell as well as you might when the trip begins Wink
