A few weeks ago I had a diary post about a rash on the corner of my mouth. Well it now has spread to across my chin to the other side of my mouth. I did visit my PCP, she wanted to test it for both bacterial and fungus infection. The tests have not come back yet. PCP tells me it will take awhile to culture a fungus based rash. I was using a anti-fungal cream with no good results. I used a steroidal cream on the recommendation on my RA for the first 3 weeks that I had the rash. It was only better for a day or 2 and came back worse than ever.

What am I supposed to think, It seems like neither steroid or anti fungal will work

I found this article but can't figure out what it really says. My rash looks like Figure 2 picture.

can some one give me an over view? I read and look up words on Google and go round and round with it. You might have to cut and paste the web address.

Any thing you can gleam and then share I would appreciate

Years ago, I had a fungus come up on the side of my nose right at the bottom and up/out a little where yourr nostril flares.

We tried meds and I had to stop wearing makeup but it did clear after several bouts. I really don't know why it started. But it was a stubborn thing to get rid of.

I wasn't able to read the address you posted but will write it down and try.

Mine never spread but a small amount. Praying your's is cleared soon.

Hugs

Gosh, I've had this since the end of April. I called the PCP today and no sign of the outcome of the culture for fungus/bacteria. I would liked to have it today to bring results to RA Dr. No Luck there.

The good news is all other organ functions and vitamin absorption are in normal range.

Bits I rarely wear makeup now, not working has it's perks. I did replace all the old makeup last February.

I'd appreciate any interpretation of the article.

I did read it. My impression is this can happen with high doses of MTX. Our doses are much smaller for RAD as opposed to cancer/disease or abortion use.

I hope you find out what it is so as to treat it effectivly. The fungus I had never spread as your's is doing. But, it did take a long time to clear.

I think it came back a few more times but finally did clear and has never been back. That was at least 10 years ago and I was not RAD dxed then.

We never knew the cause.

Hugs

Char, try some tea tree oil on it...it has anti-viral, bactrical, fungal, effects, usually works great for most everything.

Do you think it could be impetiego?

Why didn't I think of that? My son uses it now and again. and I was just reading about it last week. I looked up pictures of impetigo and read about it. I do not have the fluid acne and intense itching. The rash is mostly under the skin, almost hard to see little dots. Like a mosquito bite but never gets bigger stays the same size.

I saw the RA Dr and she would not admit it is from the MTX. She suggested doxycycline and I first get this gone before surgery on ankle and before I start Orencia. I agree.

I see the PCP who is helping me deal with this tomorrow.

It's always something (in my best Gilda Radner voice)

I received an PM of a woman whom singed up for key words in posts through Google. One of her key words was rash and she was alerted to my post. She shared how her rash was caused by her cell phone...I don't have a cell phone. It was something to consider.

I'm now taking Doxycycline and using Tea tree oil. My husband pointed out other dots on my leg about 20 of them. I did show the Dr's. After 3 doses the dots are itching and driving me nuts, oil should help in a while to get that under control.
