Some of you know that I have been considering surgery on my ankle. Before the surgery is a pre surgery PCP appt.

I was concerned about a rash near my mouth which turned out to be a fungus. It is being treated with a cream, Clotrimazole.

The PCP also tested my blood sugar, which on the first test was high and she asked me back for more tests, One was an A1C tests that will show my blood sugars for a month.

After the initial shock wore off I started looking at my diet and the tips that are given for healthy eating. I have instilled many of them in our home. Wheat bread, brown rice, EVO, 2% milk, and a bunch more. We are not a family that has chips, but cookies are here once in awhile. Recently I have given up PEPSI,Feb. I really love Pepsi, but I knew it was time to go. So what is the problem here? in the last 3 weeks I have given up coffee. I knew the creamer I was using was not the healthiest and I didn't want coffee with out it, so out went coffee.

I turned to Google with two words MTX and diabetes. I wasn't barking up the wrong tree. Has anyone seen this? Any imput would be helpful

If the MTX is goofing around with giving me Acid reflux, Symptoms of IBS, neuropathy, and now Diabetes type 2 is the MTX worth it. I know, I know, dis figuration and the slow down of RA are always on my mind. but so are side effects. Iv'e only been on MTX a year. I've tried other Medications that are awful to live with. I'm scared and I don't know what is right, I would like a more positive feeling of where to turn.

I have been thinking of 2 options that I do have.

1-Johns Hopkins it is a bit of a drive, but after what I saw them do for my friend with Breast cancer it seems like a good place to start.

2- another friend goes to a homeopathic Dr, who is a regular MD, but whos practiced western medication mainly

Praying for direction

When you have a disease such as RAD hard decisions must be made.

Questions like, "Do I take the meds that may cause other health problems or do I let RAD run it's course?"

Then you consider if you let the disease run it's course then life may very well become unbearable quickly. RAD is not a wimpy disease it is a powerful one.

Then you consider if you take the meds there is the possibility of a shortened life span. But...the life may be a good one with control of RAD. Whereas, no control will allow RAD to run rampant.

RAD is not going away unless we have remission. RAD will harm us if not controlled.

Remember this is a "progressive" disease with no cure. Our hope is to slow it down.

When my mind was going in circles the doc, Chuck, and I sat down and discussed quality of life verses quanity of life.

I chose quality of life.
