Have any of you tried water aerobics? With temps in the 80s we have spent the weekend in our above ground pool. Cool I found some water aerobic exercises on youtube and put together a 30 minute routine. It felt so good to be exercising! Since my worst RA area is my feet, I have had trouble finding ways I can exercise without joint pain. I sure hope this will be a solution.

Aly, the Arthritis Foundation highly recommends water exercise for RA, due to having no impact on the joints. I'm glad you found out about it, and that your water and weather are warm enough to enjoy the pool! Wink

I have thought about water aerobics.... if only there was a pool nearby that had classes. Just not willing to join in a town that is 30-40 mins away, because I know me, I would be to tired to go. Now if there was one near work, I would so love to do it. Well our town is growing everyday, so never know they might get a pool that would have some kind of class like this.

Water is awesome for the joints. I teach water fitness & there is so much you can do ! We also teach some water therapy type classes for arthritis, joint replacements, etc. Our pool has a 'river' in it too - people walk downstream or upstream or even sideways in there as well. One can also put on a flotation belt and jog, ski, whatever in the deep end. 'Hanging' in a belt is great for the back & neck and feet since you don't touch (no impact). We have a Deep Water Lite class for seniors and there are a couple of younger folk in there, one I know has RA.

Just being in the water gives me instant relief that, when it's really bad, can last up to an hour after I get out.

Obviously, I highly recommend water - bring a buddy and go for a walk across the pool and chat - I work mornings so I see folks do this all the time (quieter than after school or just quiet early morning).

You are so right! Late yesterday afternoon I was sitting on the patio and told my husband that I actually didn't hurt anywhere on my body. I don't think I have said that since last summer when I was out of school and able to get in the water. Too bad our weather in Kentucky doesn't allow me to be in the pool year round! Happy swimming! Usually I could just jump right in. The pool in my community is a good one. I find it cold. I have seen classes held in the pool. There is another pool in the same building, it is for kids, and a bit warmer. Tots with diaper/swimmer suits are in there. I just couldn't go there. Just being picky??
