I currently have pain in my wrists, ankles, shoulders, and back. Im on plaquenil but just recently started taking it again so I know it will be a while before I see any results. Tylenol, advil, and Aleve dont seem to be doing me any good either. What do you guys do when you feel this kind of pain? Im willing to anything at this point. Thank you in advanceSmile

I hate to say it but prednisone for me. I have been on plaquenil a few weeks.

Plaquenil worked in the past for you?

That was my fear. I'm so terrified to take Prednisone because of the side effects. Thank you both though.

If it is for a short time then the side effects are very minor. Hope you find easement soon Clarissa!

I've taken it before for 2 weeks and didn't have any side effects. But I'm just afraid it will have to be long term. I haven't flared like this since I was first diagnosed. Thank you Cata.

I have been on prednisone 5 months now but this is the first time I have taken any medicine so I hope to get off it soon.

Heager1- have you been experiencing any side effects? It seems like the meds we get prescribed help with one thing but lead to so many other things.

no the 5 mg of prednisone is pretty mild for me.Higher doses yes and I will never take higher than 10 mg. I can't take a lot of medicine.

Yes, i understand that fear... a lot. I have been on prednisone for, hmmm, about 14 yrs now... I have been on 5mg for about 10, except for bad flare ups when i up it for a couple weeks. 5 mg is quite low, and it does help. I do hope to remove it completely one day. But i always put it off because i have been doing a lot with my life since i got my replacements and feel i need that extra help. I hate taking more than 5 though. But when in need, it is life-saver. I think like every other person taking pred, i have a love-hate relationship with it
