It got up to 89 this morning, it's down to 81, love it. I don't have to mess with ice bottles today for my rabbits.

The neck pain was bad last night and this morning, but its better. I need this break. I know I'm aggravating the arthritis with ice bottles, but I had to keep the two rabbits cool. Now if we would get the much needed rain.

The heat wave will be back tomorrow, but one day away from it is better than none. Hugs, Donna Smile

I am very glad to her you can take a break from the ice bottles. I bet the rabbits are, too.

For the past few hours we have been having a lovely thunderstorm. Lots of thunder so loud it almost shakes the house, drenching rain, no wind, just a straight down rain. No lightening.

Our front door is open and I watch it from my comfy chair. Chuck is lying on the porch swing. We both love rainstorms.

I can almost see the grass growing as it gulps the needed rain. The colors of all that is green takes on a shimmering glow. I think the greenery is smiling.

Best of all...it is 78*. For while anyway. I agree with you donna, even a little while is wonderful.

I hope your pain eases more and more.

Hugs

bits, so great to hear you're getting a break from the heat and rain. We missed most of the rain, it has rain some, but it's very dry. We got just a light shower earlier, which I didn't know till I went outside to see how it is, and see if the two rabbits needed feed. They both seem content when I went out there. I have the fans still on for them. It's up to 84 now, but still cloudy, and doesn't feel bad at all. I even have my Pug, Ginger outside. She's enjoying the weather too. She's been going stir crazy when it's been hot. She has missed being outside, but I sure don't want anything happening to her when it's so hot. I've been letting her out long enough to do her thing, then back in the house.

Hope you continue to enjoy the rain. Wish we got more. Smile Hugs, Donna

The heat index is 107*. Dang...it's hot. August is tomorrow and that is our hottest month. Wonder how hot it will get?

We are installing 3 outdoor fans on our screened in backporch because it is just toooo hot to sit out and enjoy the enclosure. Some places on my walls are swelling and bubbling from the heat. Just had a proffessional paint job less than 2 years ago, some only a year ago.

Our front and back doors are swelling and I can not open them, many times, unless Chuck does it or someone kicks them from outside.

Anyone else having these kinds of problems?

bits, Sorry to hear the paint is doing that. We have't had anything like that happening here, so far. It got up to 101, the humidity is making it feel so much hotter. I've been outside three times to give the two rabbits ice bottles. Other than that, I haven't done anything today, even skipped on the workout. We all need a break from this horrible heat. My youngest son used to have a few rabbits and a nice big rabbit hutch. They were so sweet. We had tham for a few years.

One day he let them go. He said they needed freedom. Probably after watching an animal show. I hope they found a good home on the 5 acres we have. I like to think so.

He also had gerbils. Within a short time 2 became too many. His answer was to free them. Not a bad idea except he freed them in our house. !!!!

I finally had to stop allowing him to have any animals they needed a cage. LOL!

My older son had 2 goldfish he named Sebastin and Sebastian. ??? They lived a few years and he cried like a baby when thy died. Of course, he was very young at the time.

I never did figure out why he named them the same name.

Hoping the weather cools for you and rabbits.

Hugs

I know i know! He named them the same so he would not need to tell them apart! He would just stare to whichever came and say "hi Sebastian!" And then "hi, Sebastian"! Very smart your son Smile

Yes bits - my doors have been swelling too .. its frustrating me because it's been really hard for me to get my bedroom door open lately! It's been quite warm here the last couple of weeks but I don't think it has been as bad as what you guys in the western and southern states are dealing with.

I got my son a creature once (can't remember what kind LOL), I can't remember what he named it but I used to call him rat munch .. he was quite cute actually .. and oh he was smart!! Kept getting out of the cage, I even put a brick on the door on top and he STILL figured out how to get out! He ran under the dryer (at least I thought he did) so like an idiot I told my husband to turn the dryer on to scare him out, BAD move, the poor little guy actually went into the pipe where the hot air comes out not under it and got hurt really bad because of the fan.

It really traumatized me so I never let the kids get little creatures again after that. It broke my heart, especially because there was nothing we could do for him. Sad

*Hugs*

bits, At least your what your son did for the rabbis was good. They probably survived well. At least when they're loose, they can dig and cool off in the dirt, dogs do that. I don't think I'd ever feel good to do that to my rabbits. lol

lol on the gerbils. Never a good thing when they're loose in the house. lol

I never had luck with fish either. They don't have much personalities. Cute names. lol

oh no, programgirl. That wasn't good at all, very sad.

I did okay with the ice bottles, we're back in the heat warning. I'll be busy taking ice bottles to the rabbits today. It's already in the mid 80s. I'm sooo ready for fall. Argh! Hugs, Donna

Hey bits...you mention "front/back doors swelling...kicking it open from the outside". Heat is just part of the picture with that. Coming from the great northern plains of Texas with ever shifting terra-firma what's REALLY going on (and you ain't gonna like this...*sigh*) is the earth (ground) under which your home foundation base is set is VERY DRY and there are cracks rippling UNDER the foundation of your home and it's making the foundation crack/split/move and THAT causes cracks along the ceiling-walls, and doors jamming as the shifting realigns how EDGES of your home meet flushly (edges: door jams, cabinet doors, storm doors, buckling laminate or vinyl flooring, etc). What many folks have done for years here is wrap a black, energy efficient drip-hose about 6" away from the home base and water for like 30 minutes a day to keep the foundation moist and pliable. UNDER DROUGHT RESTRICTIONS THIS ISN'T CURRENTLY ALLOWED. There is NO BREAK in sight as the heat climbs up to 110 this week and NO RAIN in sight. Our High Hopes were on Hurricane Don who barely spit on Corpus Christi................national network news should stop playhing up some of those 'storms' as they raise too many hopes....and the truth/reality hurts. Sorry...I'm on a run there aren't I? BTW: Hi every body! Smile
