Hi All, I wanted to get back to you on the Dr. that answers his own phone.

I'm not sure what to make of it? The office was in an older Bldg. in out city. The long hall was was ill lit. I went into the office to see the Dr. welcoming me. I was the only one there (that didn't settle good with me) He gave me the paper work,2 pages, not like some offices. The office furniture was old, even in the exam room. No Computer in site. Then we started talking, We both talked and I had so many questions answered. And he saw the tests I had taken on the 27th. He explained all of them to me and how they relate to my RA. We talked almost an hour. I even asked about my vitamins. He also examined me, with clothes on. I didn't know that a RA Dr. is supposed to feel every knuckle and move your ankles? He is an older Dr, and classical music was playing through the whole exam. So what am I to think? He wants more tests done. and will see me in 12 weeks, not 5. These Dr's are so different. There are good and bad to both. His Office girl has Monday's off, he mentioned her name as Charlotte.

Well, Clap that sure is strange. It would be hard to ask him why he's in this situation, but it does seem suspect. Have you tried googling him? Maybe that would give you more info.

It does seem however, that he at least took time to go over stuff with you. Maybe he is recovering from a bankruptcy and this is all he can afford for now.

Maybe he likes the old feel. Since he is older, maybe it feels good to him? If it feels right to you, give him another go. If you don't feel right about it then I would suggest a different doctor.

I does seem odd, especially because we are so used to doctors having the latest equipment. It could be that he's just an old doc with lots of experience who doesn't really want to get up to date because he doesn't see anything wrong with how he's always done things.

My old neurologist was like that actually, It was like he rented the place back on the 1970's and never replaced anything, he was a nice guy but his office was really old and dark, they had things piled in the craziest places and thier equipment looked like it was from the 1920s. I saw him for about a year the first time and about 6 months the second time. I have to go see a neuro again the end of august but I requested they find me someone else.

At least he took the time to explain some things to you, most docs are too hurried. My RA doc always checks all my knuckles at almost every visit, and my shoulders, knees and ankles. When I went for my first visit that's how she knew I had inflammation, I couldn't see it but she could feel it. Now I can see it though.

Clap that does seem odd, just go with your gut feelings. My dermatologist doesn't have any fax machines, computers, etc... He won't even take credit cards, it's cash or check. I've been going to him since the 1980s. He's the one who diagnosed me having Dermatitis Herpetiformis (Skin version of Celiac Disease). It has nothing to do with herpes. He's a good doctor, I see him once a year.

That's great he took the time to answer your questions.

Guess he's just an old time doctor. Hugs, Donna

I have Asthma, Bursitis in both hips, Celiac Disease, Dermatitis Herpetiformis (Skin version of Celiac Disease), Macular Degeneration, OsteoArthritis (according to Bone Density scan results, the area in my neck where OA is bad, is showing weakness in the bone. I start on Boniva, as of July 4, 2012 for it.

Thanks all for the discussion on this. I to feel like he is just an old time Dr. His office only takes cash or checks. My endocrinologist is like this guy, and I feel very comfortable with my Endro. I do like that I don't have to see him every 5 weeks. I did look more into his name and no outstanding malpractice is on his record.

Unlike my sons first Dr. I got a call one day that simply stated Dr Wood can no longer practice Medicine in the state of VA. The office is closed. Any business matters can be handled through & then a phone # given. What a shock that was. I found him a new Dr.and he is in another old building, upstairs : He only takes a debit card when his receptionist is in.

I can't help but think is Malpractice Ins is that expensive?

Thats really good that you did more research on the doc, it's sounding more and more like he might not be a bad doc just an old set in his ways doc. Not sure if that's good or bad but I suppose it all depends on what your looking for and if it helps you feel better. Ya never know Smile *hugs*

PrgmGrl, once Paule said to check him out. I went to the Web site she gave, Thanks Paule. And I also googled his name. On my next appt I'll schedule it when the receptionist is in. Or I'll take a child with me LOL.

Thanks all, CLAP
