 I'm new on the board and i dont know much about anything haveing to do with Meds. Can somebody give me an idea how long it takes for methotrexate to work and how bad the side effects are.

 I have been on methotrexate for about 2yrs. and I think it can take up to 3 months( thats what my doc says) to work. I also think that it may work better for some people then others...so as for myself, methotrexate has not done the job ....I have constant flare ups and pain..I am now going to have to have infusions along with the methotrexate....but that is just my case...I am sure there are other RA patients that have had better success then I have..Hang in there..

 Oh, I almost forgot the other part of your question....methotrexate does have side effects...sun sensitivity..and hair loss sometimes...stomach upset...( I take it on the weekend so that if I get sick it is not a work)..I also take a prescription vitamin my doc prescribed to replace the minerals methotrexate is taking from me...

good luck...I would write more but my hands are burning with pain...
