I am not an MD or PhD psychiatrist. In college as a mathematician and teacher, however, I did receive intensive training to teach upper level mathematics and computational science - a hard and confusing subject for most. Through my foundation, I currently advance a project for "Outreach to the 'I HATE MATH' At Risk Groups". You may also check for my mathematics & computational sciences commentary and writings on LinkedIn.

I've worked many years in the field for public health including my current time as a volunteer with the New York State Department of Health. All this does really help me to reach out and to closely "listen" to what MDJ members have to "say" about themselves and about how their lives are going.

During the years when I worked as an industrial scientist, I worked in the medical research department as a statistician and computer expert and was on the team that created the world's most widely used CAT and MRI technologies. I evaluated and then designed the software systems used for the HD imaging scanners.

I qualified for membership in MENSA's upper third in 1968 when I was 16. Mostly, it's been more trouble than it's worth. I've tried all my life to use those gifts given me to help the world. I truly hope you will feel you can always trust me and know you can contact me whenever you need to with whatever health or mental health issues or needs you have!!

Salem sounds eeriely purrrfect. How about a scavenger hunt that goes into an old cemetery. How ghostly can you get. You get clues and the headstones give you the answers. I am superstitious to a point. No black cats that night. We own one and keep him inside on Halloween night. We'll have to have some kind of witches brew. What do you think? And costumes and food...

I make green beans in water and then fry them in grape seed oil and garlic. Yum! You can also make asparagus like this. Double Yum! I am glad you have asked some guests so a buffet it is. How about crab cakes too for variety. I like your starches and bread. I think we should have another bread also with this many guests. Maybe some kind of artesian bread or rolls with honey butter or apple butter. Relishes - could have some pickled veggies or pickled apple rings. What do you think?

We have been busy around here for a couple of days. Our adult son had back surgery Monday and is living with us. So we have been trying to make him comfortable and help him as much as we can. I hate to see men sick or laid up. My men - 2 sons and a husband - turn into such babies. My daughter and I take care of them. But the minute they are better they deny they ever needed our help. So when I am laid up, I have my husband wait on my hand & foot. Pay back, I guess. Just glad we can help him now. I don't know if I told you, but two of our kids had to come home to live with us due to lack of jobs. The son who had the surgery came here right after 12 years in the Army and a tour in Iraq. Hard for him to adjust, but he is getting back into everyday life again after being here for a couple of years. He is trying to go to school between surgeries. Hurt his back in Iraq.

Anyway...I think we are getting our buffet lined up great. Do you think we need more desserts? How about decorations? I love to plan for company.

That's all from Wisconsin. {( )} Big hugs to you too.

I am so glad you agree with Salem. I can just see the red lights at night of pumpkins glowing bright - very bright!!

But - I suggested a WITCH hunt. You now say we should search for scavengers?? And if we make a witches' brew - you say you want to invite them??

Does MDJ have a WIKKA Group? Who knew..........

I think though if you attract the witches they will want their black cats along for the ride.

I am afraid I am now probably allergic to kitty litter.

First things first - do you like where I chose to make our stay???

OOOEEE OOOEEE OOOEEE..................BOO!Shocked Dizzy Ermm Blink

Okey - dokey, this will be lots of fun.

I'll be waiting for you.

HUGS and BUGS and MUGS and TUGS......all in a line!

CatherineWink Cool

....I think they have been waiting a long, long time!!

A witch hunt is just fine. Do we go looking for witches in Salem? O-O-O Where in Salem are we staying? In a haunted house?

As you can tell, I am not used to scary Halloweens. I had a sheltered life when I was growing up. Time to venture out and have some fun. I am looking forward to this adventure.

Lots of BOOs,

Monica.

Well, a place to stay... ...up at the top of page three is one place I looked at - - downtown Salem. It looks like a good place to stay. I think maybe it's the Salem courthouse.

Maybe that's not the very best place to make our stay. Let's ask the witches about it!!
