HI all...

I have a question...

Have any of you heard of these two different Therapy's

My PMD, is going to start these on me because of my back....

The first one is

Prolotherapy...http://www.prolotherapy.com/prolodefine.htm

The 2nd/

PRP Therapy..http://www.orthohealing.com/ plateletrichplasmatherapy-prp/

He said the PRP Therapy has been found to have great success with RSD pain patients.....

He sighted a double blind study, that has been found to help with pain relief.. so far up to a yr.... Sooooo I am going for it..... if you have tried it.. .let me know.....

Craig

Kobie Bryant is doing something like this with his knees. He had to go to Europe to get it done a year ago, I think. I think, Craig, that this is what he was talking about on SportsCenter. He says his knees feel great from it. For what it is worth....
I am privileged to be part of this wonderful family. You all help me keep my sanity when the chronic pain puts me into severe depression and pain. I value your opinion and your advice.

I am not a medical doctor or a trained pain management person. I want to give hope as you all have given me hope to live with RSD. DP

Craig,

I'd never heard of the PRP therapy but will try to read about it. I did have a friend online who had prolotherapy due to various pains that she had and I believe she felt like it helped, but I haven't talked to her in a while. I'll try to contact her and ask her what she thinks about it.

How are you feeling? It's always hopeful to know that there is something to try! I'm pulling for you always!

Hi Craig,

Good to see you here again. I've heard of both and looked into both but neither is covered by my insurance.

The prolotherapy if it works for you will take many treatments from what the doctors office I talked to told me. Some doctors that have started doing this therapy are adding all sorts of extra meds to the "juice" they shoot in you so you have to do your homework and make sure the doc you go to is using the standard stuff instead of some odd cocktail they've come up with.

The Prp therapy is working on some people but it is very expensive (not covered on many insurances) and one of my docs said that you can't be on any pain meds a few days or week ? before the treatment and so many days after the treatment. My pain is too much so I don't want to live if I can't have the edge taken off. Maybe they do it differently where you would be going, I only share the info I learned.

As I understood it, the stuff doesn't work well if you take pain meds for some reason.

I hope that helps a little. You could try getting hypnosis to deal with the pain if you had to stop all your pain meds. Some people swear by hypnosis.

I hope and pray for you my friend. It would be wonderful if those treatments could heal. hugs, Lucky

PS...sorry I wrote "Fletch" yesterday. I don't know why I did that.

Craig: I have interviewed several doctors on my radio shpw that use Prolotherapy. Several other people called into one of the shows and told people about their own experiences with it. I also know one person who it didn't help. But, over all their results were positive. You might want to listen to it...very good information on the whole thing.

The one doctor I interviewed wrote the book, Prolo Your Pain Away". Dr Ross Hauser, M.D.

HI... Thank you for that Info.... I went to his website, and wow...some site...

I am also very interested in the PRP therapy..... From what my PMD said, it has been studied on RSD patients... and was found to help.... I am still waiting for my PMD to send me the website of the study,, if I don't get it tomorrow I will call him... but.. IF there is a way for our own bodies to help our pain, I am all for that. INSTEAD of pushing all these dang pills down my throat.... and there side effects.... by using my own bodys blood..... I will have NO side effects...

Craig

I just sent an email to his office to try and schedule an interview. Now, you have me curious. I'll let you know when I have them scheduled. It will be late June. Then everybody that has questions can call in and ask him directly.

Craig,

I just heard back from my friend who has had the prolotherapy (not RSD patient) and she is about to go back for additional treatments. She sent me his information and it is the same physician that you and Trudy have just talked about. The link is:

http://www.caringmedical.com/ in case anyone else wants to read about it. Craig, did you see his part about treating RSD with it? I was very interested when he said that interest in RSD/CRPS originally brought him to pain medicine, but I don't really see how it could help with RSD even after reading his article. What do you think about that? As far as the other injuries/problems you've had, it sounds like something worth trying. I'll have to read more about the PRP therapy. I can't tell you how much it would make me happy if you get one of these and it helps you. I hope the best thing works out for you.

I sure hope this kind of treatment pans out! It is always great to hear about the medical community coming up with new ways to help treat this disorder Smile Good luck to you. Can't wait to learn more about it and hear how it works on RSD Smile
