Hi all. Went into hospital on Dec. 22 and out 27. Severe abdominal pain. My intestines were/?? infected and had fluid in my body cavity. The doctor waited it out and poured on the antiboitics.

I was told today that I was very close to surgery. There were no lesions, tumors, or anything to explain why I had this infection.

His diagnosis is it is RSD related. I am still not out of the woods, but wondering ...

1. if anyone else has had an attack on this specific area?

2. What was done for you?

If you want to PM me or respond here, if you would....

Thanks and Happy New Year everyone...

Charles

HI...Charles..... wow.. I went through that same thing almost a yr ago.... I was having problems with pain down low in my abdomen and I went to see my doctor.. well they ran about every type of test. Beside that I was having lots of constipation problems.. brought on by my meds.... Well any way they put me on tons of antiboitics and steroides.

It took me like almost 3 weeks to get it undercontrol... And yes the doctors also said it was RSD.... I went on the internet and look to see if anyone else had had this same problem... and I found nothing... And after this post I am going to look again.... Maybe Twinkles might have some info on this also...... But I am glad for you it was nothing more than it was... like cancer, tumors ect......

For me it was a very painful time,....and from the sounds of if you were in more pain than I was....

Please keep us up on how you are doing....

The doctor who treated me is very savy in dealing with distinctive illnesses. They gave me a bunch of tests, but they could not go into the bowel as they could explode if they attempted.

His intuition and deductive reasoning saved my life. He told me today that I was a "pinch" away from surgery for bowel removal and exploratory.

The pain is intense but I too am on antibotics and steroids, with nausia meds, etc.

Thank you for posting as it will be interesting to see how long I take for recovery. I think three weeks sounds about right, I just have to stay positive and relax.

The doctor is a wise man. He saw me worried the first few days and I was having migraines that had sharp lights running through my head. He told me to settle down and that he will let me know when I should worry. It was somewhat funny as he sort of stepped in to take over my worries.

He said, "I will let you know when you need to worry..... geeze, the lights and all that crap, forget about it. It's all part of the systemic issues in dealing with RSD."

Charles,

I'm really sorry to hear how sick you have been and are. I hope the pain will lessen quickly. I'm sorry you had to be in the hospital over Christmas and know you would have so much rather been home. That's just awful but sounds like a smart and good doctor "had your back" and kept this from being even more awful. That's one blessing in it.

I hope you were able to have some Christmas despite this, not that it's the most important thing at all. I've not had any systemic problems from my RSD as I'm "fortunate" to have it only in one foot, ankle and lower leg. It's very scary sounding and I know you've had other heath issues. Well, there's nothing I can do but pray for you. I know you don't think that's a small thing, though, but it feels like it sometimes. I'm sure your sweet wife is taking good care of you. Please let us know how you're doing in the next few days. I'll be thinking of you and praying for you.

Charles,

Sorry to hear that you suffered and are still dealing with so much pain at a time you hope to feel joy and peace. What a scary thing RSD is. That it can do this to our body out of the blue when we least expect it, really is horrible. I hope you will get better quickly and are able to enjoy the remainder of the holiday. You are fortunate that your Dr. was able to treat you and avoid the surgery. Know that many will be thinking of you and praying for you to mske a speedy recovery.

Hugs,

scorpioj

Hi Charles,

I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you. I have had several severe pains in my lower abdomen and also in my lower bowel. When I told my doctor the only thing I got was "Gee I never heard of that before". My lower abdomen can swell up 4 times bigger at times and sitting too long makes it worse. The docs didn't say anything about why it happens either. Sorry I can't be of any help. I can share what I have done when it happens to me but don't know if it would help you. I bought an inexpensive chi machine on ebay that was used. The new units cost 100 to 300 dollars but I got one on ebay for 20 dollars plus shipping. It rocks my feet and legs back and forth. The manufacturers claim it helps reduce edema and help regularity. Most of the time I can only handle 5 minutes of using it so I try to use it 2 or 3 times a day. You must drink plenty of water if you are on a lot of medications. Take care. hugs, Lucky

Dear Charles

I'm so sorry you've gone through all of this. I'm so glad you messaged us to let us know what's been going on with you. I've wondered about you.

I have not experienced what you're going through. I feel badly that you spent Christmas in the hospital, but your health is more important and Christmas can always be celebrated on another day.

I hope someone has more information to help you on this.

I wish I knew or could do more to help you.

You remain in my thoughts and prayers,

~Twinkle

I just got back from the doctor. He is not satisfied with what is happening. I will have some lower GI testing next week with an endoscope in a few weeks if he thinks that the bowel can stand the stress. We shall see what happens.

He is very conservative. I would not be here right now if not for his intervention a few years ago.

Thanks all for your thoughts and prayers......
