Don't do that, Craig!! lol I joke around about loving dark chocolate M&M's but I do actually keep some in my refrigerator all of the time and if I want some chocolate, I just get a few out and keep it at that. If eaten one at a time slowly, even 5-6 are a nice treat and very few calories. You probably want more than that, but it helps me to have that, and if you like the dark chocolate ones, there's also a slight health benefit! Can't beat it by feeling like you're doing something healthy and getting chocolate all at the same time!

Hi Kathy,

Just to butt in for a second, thirty years ago when I was expecting my first baby, my son, I would mix pretzels and M&M's in a bowl and eat them! They were good! But, I cannot afford to do that now, at least not like that!

I admire that you aviod carbs... that would be So hard for me. I find that I "let" myself have certain treats because, after all, I'm in PAIN! It's an excuse I need to stop using, too.

I would LOVE to have my dog as a service dog, but I think it's too late. She's only 4, but unfortunately she has trained ME and I'm at her command most of the time! She is o sweet and I love her probably too much. I think it's cute you guys like your little dogs- mine is too big at a bit over 60 pounds. She and I are "apple" shapes!

Hope you all have a good 4th!

Hugs with chocolate in them, Cindy

Dear Chihuahua:

What are your Chihuahuas like?

I think I will look into having my dog become a service pet. She makes everyone melt when they see her. She looks just like the white female dog, Chloe, in Beverly Hills Chihuahua and is very manipulative. All day long she will go from person to person for cuddles, pets, warmth, scratches, treats etc. and, of course, we give her everything she wants. She is just like chocolate to me, when she is away from me , I miss her so much. My grown kids think that she is my Pseudo-Baby. Kinda silly, I guess. I got her after my Dad passed away and I know that she helped me through that loss, so now she is helping me through the loss of mobility and quality of life with RSD. I can just imagine her in a little orange service vest...

But now that I think about it, she is a fussy Girl and does not like to wear any clothes at all! Only her B-Day suit! Not even a collar. When I first adopted her as a pup, I bought her an entire ridiculous wardrobe, complete with boots, rainjacket, sweaters, cute dresses, beanies, and even a costume. After dressing her up, her body would freeze like a statue and she would not move for several minutes. If she did try to walk , she would walk very robot-like and look very frightened, averting her eyes from my face. Well, after some major attempts at dressing her up, even after bribing her with treats, I realized that she was not a "typical Chihuahua". She did not like ANY clothing at all. So, I ended up giving all of her outfits away. Oh well, she's still a cute Baby...

Back to the topic at hand, has anyone had any cravings (like Rev) for

healthy foods? I crave spinach and jicama, weird?

Dear Gail:

That's a good idea, putting the M&M's in the freezer. That will help me to limit the amount I eat when I really do have a craving. Hmmm, did you know that the M&M's company just came out with different Flavor of M&M's Trail Mix, combining pretzels and other "healthy" items with the M&M's? Well, have some for me today, OK? have A great day!!

Thiamarie,

No, I hadn't heard of the new trail mixes- I'm sure I wouldn't gain any weight at all if I get them! lol There have been various trail mixes over the years with "chocolate candies" mixed with nuts and pretzels and other things and I like them but there are about a million calories per handful. I gained weight after my divorce and decided at the beginning of 2006 to lose it- and I got in great shape and DID lose the weight! I kept some M&M's in my refrigerator the entire time in case I had a craving for chocolate, which I often did. It was a wonderful way to keep both the calories and caffeine under control, because I had also stopped with caffeine. It might not work for everyone but it was a good way for me to have some chocolate and lose weight, too! Of course, the key is to eat only a few! (I had a few tonight, too!)
