I have had RSD for nearly 3 years now. It affects my whole body. I take a concoction of drug to try to ease the pain, stop the muscle spasms & spatictiy, control the urge incontince as a result of spasm of the sphicter.

Due to muscle weakness in that area to, I am about to have a TVT operation. I am concerned that I will end up with even more long term pain. Also copping with pain immediately after the operation.

Can any advise me what to expect?

Hi Twist,

I'm sorry that you've had this pain for so long. Also, I understand your concern regarding this surgery. Unfortunately there are no ways to tell you that it won't cause more pain, but if you have a pain doctor please have him talk to your surgeon before the surgery. Sometimes a block can be performed before surgery that might help, and someone here recently had surgery and had a block that remained for two days after surgery in order to hopefully not cause long term pain issues. That might be something you could talk to your doctor about.

Good luck with the surgery? Let us know so we can pray for you! And, welcome to the group. It's a great group of people and I think you will find that both for information and support it's a good group. Good luck.

Hi twist,

I will be praying for you that all goes well and that there will be no more added pain to your RSD. I totally understand. I have had RSD for 10 1/2 years and have spasms everywhere so is the pain everywhere. I need to have female surgery and I am terrified too. I have stomach spasms all the time and I am afraid they will spread to down there too.

Many gentle hugs, Cindy
