Raped by Step Father

Hi everyone,

I am new here. I'm happy to find a support group about rape. I was raped by my step father when I was 17. I am now 28 and I just told my mother about it. I kept it a secret for so long because I was ashamed and felt like it was my fault. Does anybody else feel this way?

Welcome to the group Amanda. I'm so sorry that happened to you and that you felt you had to hold it secret. I think most if not all of us at one time or another felt that we were responsible for what happened. We are actually not. He's an adult in a position of authority, he had no right.

Did your mother react well? I mean did she believe and support you?
