Rape Support Group

I started to have some flashbacks of the rape that happened about a year or so ago. i was so horrified. I Couldn't even sleep i was up and down. i was afraid to sleep. I thought that he was right here, but he wasnt i had to make sure many times, even screaming.i dont know what to do.

I have nightmares about my near rape that happened in 1975. It sucks.

Hi molly i am sorry your having these flashbacks. Since this might happen again, its good to have some grounding techniques. Did screaming help for you? Other things you can do is to try and control your breathing, take deep breaths and exhale slowly, this will help calm you down. Sit down and hold something in your hands, feel the texture, ask your self what does it feel like? Turn on a light, look at the colors on the wall, what color are they. Once your feeling better maybe read something or have one of your pets come in and sit with you for a little. Or also maybe call a good friend and maybe they will cheer you up a little?

I bave tried a few. Its hard. Its just so hard and difficult. I just dont want to have them any.ore. breathi g thats hard to dooo.

yes it is very difficult. Another thing that might help is to call RAINN and they will connect you with a crises center near you. Most of these centers have 24/7 free support lines. The advocates on the phone should be able to help you. If you call, tell the dispatcher that you want to talk to a center that is confidential (thats if you want to stay confidential and not report). Not all the centers are confidential so they should be able to find one that is. Once your talking to the advocate, ask them for the direct number to their support line. This way you can program it in your phone and call them any time you want to call! They are on those support lines to help you.

I give donations to RAINN frequently. I think they are very supportive for women that have been abused and raped. We have a chapter in Detroit.

I dont know about that. Hm....

Molly... I know it might be hard to open up but have you seen a counselor? If not then you might need to contact one so they can help you work through this. In the meantime you have your friends here willing to listen and lend a cyber-shoulder when you need one.

Hi..I'm sooo sorry for what happened to you,I can understand you.It happened to me as well.I have flahbacks as well or nightmares at night time..I know it's horrible!Flashbacks make me feel miserable,luckily doesn t happen often..they will fade away after a while and if you can talk about your experience ,it will make you feel better..what happened to us is unforgivable but we have to carry on..we are survivors and we need each other support..I'm here if you need to talk.
