I am looking to raise awareness about rape and sexual abuse. I am not sure exactly how yet...but the more people who want to get involved the easier and more effective it would be. This would either happen in NSW Australia (where I live until february) or in victoria where I shall live february to novemeber. Or both. Would also be interested in forming a support group. Let me know if anyone is interested in helping or have any ideas about what I can do to help the cause. Lets do something! Thank you

This is slowly in the works. If you look at my thread "what can we do?" and Lilibit58 thread "slogan". That's where we have started so far. We all want to do something. I think we have widdled it down to a slogan that we can put on stuff like bumper stickers and posters or something. We could start something like MADD. Mothers against drunk drivers.

Do you have any ideas Cassie?

the school thing may be a good idea, but maybe just talk in front of parents. Maybe the school will give you a class room at night to talk to parents that want to hear what you have to say. The school could let the parents know somehow and give them a time that your going to be there. You can say that you are a survivor and maybe have a bunch of statistics on sexual abuse and rape. You could have a flyer to hand out to them with information on where to get help and stuff, mention mdjunction and RAINN maybe.

I think we should endeavor to do all of the above...We always talk about the stigma on sexual abuse and rape...that should spur us into action to destroy it.

cassie you want to make the video? maybe you can post what you want to say in this forum so we can help u edit it. and then im not sure if we need mdjunctions approval to have there url in the video. I would think that maybe in the beginning and in the end of the video we have a list of all the helpful places for survivors, mdjunction would be at the top of the list. Have a friend video you and edit in something simple like Microsoft movie maker. then just upload it to YouTube. Post the link to the video in the forum so we can send it to everyone.

i bet there are already some rape awareness videos on there, the more the better.
