A dr needs to access you. Either a Pdoc, or a therapist.

I'm an Advocate

I was diagnosed with PTSD through a mental health professional counselor. I asked for a copy of the description of PTSD which is in the DSMIV book that is used to diagnose mental health problems and for billing purposes and she gave it to me. We went over the symptoms in a session 1 day and that is when she told me that I have had or have every symptom of PTSD a person can have. I gave a copy of the description of PTSD to the family health doctors I worked for at the time and when both of them read it, they both told me that they were not aware that PTSD could cause these symptoms. I had only been diagnosed with depression and anxiety by the family physician. No mention of PTSD was made until I saw the mental health professional. The mental health professional was also the person who told me that it is not advisable for a person who has PTSD to be given steroids except in a life-saving emergency. The reason for this is that steroids can cause mental health problems in a person with no mental health problems, and because of this can cause the person with PTSD to have a lot more trouble than normal. I found this out after taking 1 dose of steroids given to me by 1 of the doctors I worked for and having severe flashbacks for a 24-36 hour period of time. The doctors were not aware about the way steroids can affect a person's PTSD. I have a Medic Alert bracelet that has a number that can be called if I am unable to speak for myself and was advised by a professional at Medic Alert that it be listed in my file with them and that it should also be noted not to give me steroids except in a life-saving emergency because of the PTSD. Hope this helps to answer your question.
Although I work in a medical office as a transcriptionist, I am not a doctor. My advice to you is based on my own experience with PTSD and what I have found out about it by researching it as much as possible. Always remember that if you need a friend to talk to, I'm just a PM away.

unfortunately family practitioners really don't know much, sometimes they don't even know when to refer you out or to whom. they just say that there is nothing that can be done or that your symptoms can't be diagnosed. it's really kind of sad.
My main leadership role is to listen, encourage, and keep the peace....It isn't to give medical or legal advice...Please note...I am not a Doctor...nor an expert...I am here for the same reason all of you are...to receive and give encouragement.

Psalm 91

My Refuge and My Fortress

91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the recompense of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place—
the Most High, who is my refuge—
10 no evil shall be allowed to befall you,
no plague come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder;
the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.

14 “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him;
I will protect him, because he knows my name.
15 When he calls to me, I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.
With long lifrwill I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.
