Welcome to the group Nicole. It will be hard opening up at first but when you learn and really feel that there are real people who are going through the same but still want to reach out and help you, that's what makes it worthwhile. I'll keep you in my prayers!

Hi Nicole,

I hope this trauma is only short term for both you and your children. Thankfully most PTSD is short term and victims eventually recover and I hope this is true for you. I am glad to hear you and your kids are safe and my sympathies to your husband.

I can't possible imagine what it was like for you to go through all that and know that your children were witnesses as well. My biological father was physically abusive to my mother. She left him when I was just a baby, but he was in and out of my life until I was about a teenager. So I may not know what extreme post tramatic stress you are going through, but I understand what your children might be going through. It always seems to be the hardest when you are alone at night. I got a large dog to help me feel safe at night. I don't like guns that's my personal preference, but sometimes we need to do things to make us feel safer at night. Especially if our spouses work at night or most of the night. My thoughts are with you and your family. I hope that you find all the support you can get through this group. I also have just joined, but already have found great support.
