MDJunction to me

MissNikkiAnn"When you have an illness with the name "Non-Familial Dysautonomia" (a name that most people, and even doctors, have never heard of), you need a network
of people who understand the name and the symptoms/issues that come with it.
MDJunction led me to that network of people during a very confusing and sickly time. For this I am thankful. And for this reason I try my best to give back to other members the same care and help that I received through MDJunction.

Are you on meds? Because sometimes the meds mess with memory loss. I know I have short term memory loss, but I chalk it up to age, more than PTSD or any of my other dx's.

Again, I don't think my memory problem is due to PTSD I think mine has to do with my meds. I think they make me more forgetful. But maybe someone else here has had problems with memory without taking any meds.

Hi Corky, welcome. If you were in Viet Nam, you are at a ripe age for normal aging forgetfulness! lololol Face it, we are old farts. That was my era too and I am a few months from 60. I go to the fridge and forget what I went there for! That is what I think of when you say short term memory. Am I correct? Plus, all men over 50 have selective memories and hearing loss...lololol (joke corky) lololol. Unless these short term memories are earth shattering to your life....don't worry about it...Next time you go to the doc, mention it to him and he may want to adjust your meds.

sounds like a medicaiton problem

have you talked to your doctor

there are lots of possible reasons for this a doctor would know best

Please, please forgive me,
But I won't be home again.
Maybe someday you'll look up,
And, barely conscious, you'll say to no one:
"Isn't something missing?"

You won't cry for my absence, I know -
You forgot me long ago.
Am I that unimportant...?
Am I so insignificant...?
Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?

Even though I'm the sacrifice,
You won't try for me, not now.
Though I'd die to know you love me,
I'm all alone.
Isn't someone missing me?

Please, please forgive me,
But I won't be home again.
I know what you do to yourself,
I breathe deep and cry out:
"Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?"

Even though I'm the sacrifice,
You won't try for me, not now.
Though I'd die to know you love me,
I'm all alone.
Isn't someone missing me?

And if I bleed, I'll bleed,
Knowing you don't care.
And if I sleep just to dream of you
And wake without you there,
Isn't something missing?
Isn't something...

Even though I'm the sacrifice,
You won't try for me, not now.
Though I'd die to know you love me,
I'm all alone.
Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?

Hi corky and welcome. I am not old but i too have noticed short term memory issues since being diagnosed and on medications. Sadly that is a side effect of some medications and i have asked my dr many times about it and they all swear it's normal and i'm fine. If it continues to bother you though ask your dr and tell them how much of a concern it is to you.

Corky, First of thank you for your service to our country. And welcome. These ladies here know what they are talking about. I have PTSD from this current war (and a few other issues). The meds i take make abit forgetful. Suzanne is right, talk with the doc if its a big concern.

Liam
