So sorry you are having problems with the nightmares and being able to remember them. I was in the same situation as you and asked my counselor what I could do to help get the thoughts out of my head. We discussed journaling and she let me borrow a book she had on journaling. I read the book and realized that journaling could help me tremendously. It's not hard to journal. Just get 2 pens (in case 1 runs out) and plenty of paper and start writing whatever pops into your head. Don't even think about what you are writing just write it down. My journal is either a composition book or some other book that can be used as a journal. Journaling is a way to access the thoughts and memories stored in the subconscious mind and get it all out so that 1 can deal with it. All of us hate having PTSD. I know I do, but I also realize it is not going to go away on its own, and is going to be with me always. So I just do everything I can to fight the PTSD on a daily basis and as far as planning anything about the PTSD, I never do, simply because it is so unpredictable. If you would like some info on journaling, just send me a PM. For me sometimes the journaling has been better for me than sitting in a counselor's office and talking to them. Midget53
Although I work in a medical office as a transcriptionist, I am not a doctor. My advice to you is based on my own experience with PTSD and what I have found out about it by researching it as much as possible. Always remember that if you need a friend to talk to, I'm just a PM away.
