Hey everyone,

I joined this group back in 2009 but never became a very active participant. I'm realizing now, though, that I still have a lot of issues that I've been running away from, and participating in this type of group really forces me to come face to face with those issues.

I sincerely look forward to sharing and getting to know all of you.

Hi Kris,

I think blocking things from your mind and trying to go through life ignoring issues is quite common for many people, so don't worry. I see it in people around me all of the time, they don't try and address issues, just try to pretend they are not there.

I had gastric bypass surgery, and previously used food as my comfort for many issues that I had. Food made everything ok, and while others probably don't let the eating spiral as out of control as I once did, many do use food as a 'pick me up' to try and take their mind off things.

Surgery was my turning point, I had no choice as I was unable to do that anymore.

You need to do your version of surgery, face up to the things that are troubling you - the hard thing is that it's often quite painful to face these things, I have been told even in counselling, it's hard to talk about the things you'd rather repress.

But once you get through that difficult patch, you will really feel the benefit! And what safer platform than surrounded by friends here

Hi Kris and welcome to you! Glad you decided to rejoin us here. It's a difficult thing to sort through things unless we allow ourselves to acknowledge that certain things are something we need to work through. Look forward to getting to know you. Join in with us. Ann Smile
