I just started taking Metformin so I really can't help you but I know that the Dr told me that my cysts will get better and my cycle will become regular in 3-6 months and I have a 50% chance of getting pregnant and before I only had like a 3% chance. I don't know if this will help any but I hope it helps a little.

Hi,

I started Metformin last monday (less than two weeks ago) on 500mg the first week, 1000mg this week, and then I'm supposed to go up next week to 1500mg and 2000mg the week after that.

So far I have a decreased appetite, don't crave carbs or sweets, and have LOST 7 LBS!!!

I'm so excited because I rapidly gained about 40 lbs over the past 2.5 years and this has been the only thing that worked. I still have a lost to lose but I really think it gets your insulin levels down and helps people lose weight and control their PCOS and insulin resistance. I used to diet and excercise with little to no results and now it seems to be coming off so easily!

I have no had any GI side effects and I attribute that to taking it in the middle of a meal. I almost have to "make a decision to eat" now where before I would kinda just binge and was hungry all the time.

I have also stopped taking Abilify, which can also cause weight gain and hunger, so that might be playing a part in the weigh loss.

Good luck and keep me updated!

Lesley

nm - I have been on 1500mg for 1.5 years now. I was able to loose over 60lbs for the first time ever. If I take met before a meal it will almost always make me nausseas and sometimes I will even vomit, but as long as I take it half way through a meal or right after then I have no problems at all. I was on 1000mg for years and never had the success I had until I started with a new dr and he increased the dose to 1500mg.

Good luck with it. KUP!
