MDJunction to me

jayna01"My name is Jayna and I wanted to take this opportunity to say how much MDJunction has meant to me. I always felt so alone before I joined in April of 2012. I felt like there wasn't anyone that really cared about me and what I was going through. I felt like there was no one that would truly listen to me in what I was feeling. Nobody was there for me. That is before I found MDJ!

I have found and met such good people on these forums. I never ever knew there were such compassionate people before MDJ. It's also nice to know that I can come here anytime and get support for what I am feeling. I feel like I have met some wonderful life long friends. It is also an outlet for me to try and help other people that are hurting. It gives me a good feeling inside and gives me self confidence in helping other people.

I hope MDJ will be as good for you as it has been for me! Many Blessings and Much love.

Hello Sorry I haven't been on here at all. I have been dealing with a lot... About 10 yrs. or so ago I was diagnosed with a thyroid problem.. Was diagnosed from hypo to hyper and now am told thyroid is ok...Was never a problem.. HUH?? That's right lol.. I was told in early adulthood that I have PCOS...Was taking metformin and it lowered my blood sugar to much..So I stopped taking it.. I have gained 100 lbs. or so in ;the last year no matter what I do or eat and swelling like a balloon....I went to the ER with chestpain.. Long story short thought I was having congestive heart failure kept me to run test... The doctor actually listened to me and sent me to an Endo and am being tested for Cushings... I am told the reason I was never diagnosed with it before is that both PCOS and Cushings have the same symptoms..So any1 not sure if its one or the other be sure to push the issue Since Cushings is so rare most docs will assume its not the problem

Hello, I have the opposite of Cushings - adrenal insufficiency - and I have pcos which masked my adrenal problems because -Yes!- they ARE very similiar!

Thank you for highlighting this and GOOD LUCK with your new Endo! Hang in there!

Wow I didnt know it masked Addisons too!! That is the opposite right? Not sure it is all new to me. But I am worried the Endo I am going to mainly specializes in

Diabetes and has told me she will run 2 tests and if they come back normal she is only gonna send me to the dietician to lose weight and exercise... So might be trying to find another Endo since I have researched and only 1 DST isnt enough to find Cushings especially if cyclical.. Good luck with your journey.. Where are you from? I am from Marion Ohio.. As far as I know only 1 specialist that has dealt with Cushings near me may have to try him?...

Well done for educating yourself! I am guessing that he will do the 24 urine test (cortisol) and morning blood cortisol?

I recommend that you keep a symptom diary and include bp readings (crucial info) and body temp and blood glucose readings if you can afford the monitor. You can also download free calorie trackers to prove that the weight gain is not a result of diet or lack of effort.

I work internationally so I am based in Africa, Europe and Asia...it can be fun at times!
