How can I manage PCOS and prevent future problems

Hi, not been on here in a while and watched a few of the video clips. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 8 months ago after finally plucking up the courage to go talk to the doctor about my excess hair. My ultra sound and symptoms confirmed the PCOS and I was told that I was already on the right medication (birth pill) and that was that.

But what do I do now? How am I supposed to be correcting my hormone levels and prevent diabetes or cancer in the future. I'm just a little scared. I'm 28, not over weight, not wanting to get pregnant yet just would like a bit more support.

Any advice would be fantastic, felt like I got the brush off from my GP.
