MDJunction to me

peasha"This has been one of the most supportive places I have ever been. I found MDJ by mistaking looking for drs to help me with my many health issues and since that day over a year ago I have found a tight nit little family that keeps me going when the times are tough and offers me a place of retreat to share my successes and failures with others. I get to see the humor and seriousness of what I experience as well as the resources to learn about my health conditions. Thanks MDJ" (peasha)

Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with PCOS about a year ago but was receiving back and forth information about it (switched doctors I've lived three different places in that year and they've alternated between saying it's super serious and needs to be dealt with instantly, and then telling me it doesn't matter at all until I'm pregnant.)

Anyway, I got an ultrasound today about some pain I've been having for a couple months and it turns out my right ovary has a ruptured cyst (really freaky seeing that huge black space on the ultrasound, by the way...) which is leaking liquid (blood? I wish I'd thought to ask, but I was kind of just surprised) into my abdomen. The ultrasound technician said the doctor was busy right then and couldn't see me, but that she'd give her the ultrasound pictures and have her contact me.

Since I don't know how long that's going to be, I figured I'd come ask a few questions here. Have other people had cysts rupture? What happens? The first site I found on google told me that ruptured cysts always get surgically removed, along with the ovary, sometimes. Is that what has happened to other people who've had cysts rupture?

I had some intense pain late December (like to the point that I told the friend I was talking to at the moment and almost called my mom to take me to the hospital in the middle of the night, because it felt like I was being torn up inside) - do you think that could be the cyst rupturing? Or is that long enough ago that that was probably just some random thing? It seems like if a ruptured cyst is bad enough to usually get surgically removed, it's not something I could just ignore for nearly half a year...

Sorry for the long rambly first post. If anyone's had a ruptured cyst and could tell me what happened for them, I'd appreciate it.

Hannah, first let me welcome you to our group! As far as your cysts go, I unfortunately don't have a lot of answers, none of mine have ruptured (I do have a good gaggle of them on each ovary). I am hoping your doctor gets ahold of you soon, this does seem like a pretty serious problem. I'm keeping you in my prayers, hon!

Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perserverance, perserverance, character, and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us." Romans 5:2-5

Thanks Smile A bit more googling said some people just get given pain kills and sent home, so maybe it's not always super serious. I guess that means the pain's not gonna be going away anytime soon which is a bit sad but oh well, I guess. At least I'm not on the verge of death.

I have had two cysts rupture. The first one they didn't do anything. I didn't even take any pain meds or anything. The second one they did an ultrasound the day it ruptured. They saw fluid behind my uterus and in the cavity, but again didn't do anything. I don't think either of mine were as serious as yours, so I don't know that my information is much help to you. I wish you the best and hope that it is not serious.
