I was recently diagnosed with PCOS after thinking that I was going through menopause for the past 10 years. I started on Metformin almost a month ago. Has anyone else been on Metformin and has it helped?

Hi tx,

You are not a freak! Believe me! I know how you feel and you should feel thankful now that someone has had the sense to finally dx you with pcos and finally put all your symptoms together! It took me 20 some years to get to your point! Metformin DOES help - A LOT! A SUPER LOT! You will feel like a new person - all is not lost - please read my other posts about pcos and don't give up hope ok? I am here for you if you need to talk or need advice - and you are by far not alone.....My sister-in-law just found out she has pcos too - alot of women/girls have it and don't even know yet - because no one has put their list of symptoms together yet! Please hang in there - You WILL feel better and see improvements - honest!

HUGS!!

Jenna

Jenna ~

Thanks The only reason that I refer to myself as a "medical freak" is that it seems like every time I go to the doctor, I come home with a new dx.

I am so thankful that I have finally found an endocrinologist that deals with not only my thyroid cancer but, hormonal and PCOS issues as well. She is a really great "outside the box" type of thinker. I have been on the Medformin for almost 2 months now. So far it seems to have helped.

I have a blog and one of my most searched post is "Feeling Like Menopause In Your 30's and 40's", you can find it here http://txmedicalfreak.blogspot.com/2007/11/feeling-like- menopause-in-your-30s-and.html

There is no telling how many women have this and just don't know it.

Thanks for your support Mandy
