I don't know if there is any link between the two but I thought I would ask if anyone else has had any problems with it. I was recently very ill and while in the hospital they gave me a round of strong steroids then a taper pack for the 12 days after I went home. After coming home I noticed that the facial hair was thicker and in more places on my face. And to make it worse my skin has become so sensitive that I break out even with my makeup. Has anyone else seen a link between the hair growth and certain meds?

Apparantly steriods causes hair loss not growth, to be honest i would have thought it would have caused hair growth too.

You should ask your Dr for some antiandrogen medication, these are a diverse group of medications given to counteract the effects of androgens (male sex hormones) on various body organs and tissues, they've been known to improve pratically every symptom of PCOS.

That link is to a webpage i found where it tells you all about them, hope it helps Smile

yes, prednisone/other steroids have many side effects and that was one of them which i had besides for the weight gain, bloating, insomnia, tachyardia, upset stomach, cravings, and other things i also broke out a lot and had a lot of hair growth at that time.

i have been on it for months at a time.

I really don't know if it causes hair growth. I too took a couple of doses of steroids. I have the facial hair growth problem and am on an anti-androgen (spironolactone) it takes a while to kick in and the side effects are a pain in the butt. But, hey I will do anything so that I get rid of unwanted hair and grow wanted hair...lol If this med doesn't kick in soon I'm going to need a wig!! I hope you get your answer but talk to your DR. about the anti-androgen meds.
