Hi! I am so glad to have found a safe place to talk to people who know what I am going through right now. I am 50 years old and a non-smoker. I had my first spontaneous pneumo two years ago. I was returning from a vacation in the Caribbean. I had had a cough prior to the vacation and during, but thought nothing of it. During the flight I felt a sharp pain in my chest, but I wrote it off as heartburn. Went back to work and started to feel winded even talking. I still thought it was the cough, but...

Three years ago I had 4 episodes of pneumonia in less than 3 months, was hospitalized twice. I have never fully recovered and my PCP referred me to a lung doctor. Saw him about ten days ago, he had my xrays and told us that my diaphram on the right side is paralyzed and that there is nothing that can be done for this. I have had extreme fatigue, am unable to keep up with my housework or even do the things that I enjoy doing. The very same day he had me do a test with a little meter that meas...

Hi - it's me again...

I got many PMs from members asking to upload their own videos. At this point we can't add to the library . but hope we will be able to soon, we understand the importance of that!

and another (not related) topic...Two weeks ago we added to the (now available on chrome too) the Groupon application that shows you the hottest daily deals in your town, every day. We received great feedback from the people using the toolbar so I suggest trying it out!!!

Do you mind emailing/messaging me about your experience? It sounds like we have gone through the same thing. I'm a little bit older than you--24--and I was admitted into the hospital for a pnuemo almost three weeks ago. I'm having a lot of complications. Right now I'm on my fourth chest tube.

Did you have any complications with your lung staying inflated? Did they come into your room every morning to do a chest x-ray too? if you're at home, are you scared that you're going to have your lung ...

Hello,

I just found out that there is a group for Pneumothorax on this site. I can't believe it! I suffered a spontaneous pneumo when I was 19 (I'm 33 now). I was hospitalized for over 2 weeks and ended up having surgery to correct it. I actually had it twice before that when I was younger, but it corrected itself before I got to the hospital and went undiagnosed. Unfortunately, my surgery was for the left lung, and my previous episodes were for my right lung, so I feel like a ticking ti...

I worked around redwood most of my life,
falling,bucking,whatever,
The planing mill,
we ran kiln dried wood, the planers
produce very small fibers,
in abundance.
It isn't just the dust,
it is loaded with tannic acid
a known carcinogen,
similar things happen
in red cedar mills, different acid though
The phoney dust masks the company provided
did little, the particulates were too small.
My lungs feel good,my hill to the ocean
is steep,no more stopping to wheeze.
They didn't fix my hea...

Hi Hayley and Katie

I have had quite a few pneumothorax over a number of years and have had, by the sounds, the same operation as you two on both of my lungs. My pneumothorax began when I was about 20 years old and were the start of my diagnosis of Marfan Syndrome. I do know people who have had unexplained pneumothorax that has happened just the once and that has been it. I'm afraid it is a lottery as to if you will get them with your other lung. :S
