Hi new to this forum. Pleva is new to me I had never heard of it before, that's until my doctor told me i had and showed me pictures of it. I am still learning about the disease. I am currently talking Prednisolone 25mg and using the tricortone cream. I am waiting to see my Dermatologist next week to start a light treatment.

I am relatively new to it too. My dermatologist didn't recommend a light treatment, but did give me antibiotics and such. That works very well. Sunlight does help though.

Let me know the results.

hello dear Leah and Aussie,

I just wanted to make sure that your daughter doesn't get sunburned - it's the most painful thing to endure when you have PLC.

Again, doctor's recommendations are 15 min. of unprotected sunlight (preferably early in the day) then slather them with the highest SPF, waterproof sunscreen.

I forgot to tell you that the creams and/or ointments that are prescribed by doctors are not good for PLC - they plug your pores and make the itch worse. Using Aveeno in the bath dries the skin too much.

Use the bathing gloves on them at night so they don't scratch and I use Vicks Vaporub on my PLC when the itch is unbearable. It works! The cool reaction of the vicks on the hot and itchy PLC.

The best cream I found (always keep their skin moisturized) is Eucerine Original Formula. It's water-based and light enough not to block the pores.

That's it for now!

Regards,

Linda

It's my daughters bedtime and I am off to lather her in Vicks Vaporub. I will let you know tomorrow if it helped her. Linda - Thanks for the tips.

Menthol may help with itching, but other than that I know there isn't a whole lot use for it with PLEVA. Keep us updated.

Well my daughter reported that the Vicks did not help with the itching but it was worth a try. I am willing to try ANYTHING at least once to help her.

She is not on any creams for the itch but I think I will call the doctor tomorrow and ask for something. Does anyone have any recommendations? I have been having her sit in the sun for at least 15 minutes each day provided there is sun and I can see a small improvement on her arms but her legs are still so bad.

Definitely get your daughter to a Dermatologists asap. Ask for steroid ointments and talk to your derm about doing an step down oral prednisone treatment. Benedryl is also great for the itching! Best of luck and keep us all posted
