Hi,

I had surgery transphenoidal above gumline almost a month ago. I have numb gums above my 2 front teeth, there isnt much feeling at all. Im just wondering if this will change over time or is this a "side effect" of this kind of procedure, also how long does it take for ends of stitches to fall out?

thanks in advance

Hi CAVB: Haven't had the surgery, but numbness above your teeth sure sounds perfectly normal to me. Have you asked your doctor about this? I'm betting there are others on here who will respond who have experienced the same thing, inc. info about the stitches. So glad it's over and you're feeling better. Take care!

Im not sure how long that feeling lasts for. What does your surgeon say?

This is the only other member I recall who had the same kind of surgery as you, and what he posted after his surgery. http://www.mdjunction.com/forums/pituitary-adenomas- discussions/general-support/953360-remy-hormone-levels-are- back-to-normal#954648

Must be a very wierd feeling. I hope it clears up for you soon.

How is everything else going with your recovery?

I had transphenoidal surgery, no gums involved but I recall it took about 3 months to a year before all the parts of my nose could be felt again. Nerves take awhile to heal. So you'll have that annoying yet interesting numb feeling for a little bit longer.

I had the transphenoidal surgery on my gum line 5 yrs ago and yes my gums were numb for a while, I think a few months. but it really did not bother me and went away... I would ask the surgeon..
