I was hit by a car walking in a parking lot.

suffered a concussion and lost my sence of smell.

just got the results of my MRI to see why i cant smell anything and the news was quite shocking.. i have a 7mm tumor in my pituitary gland.

i know literally nothing els.

i am 23, healthy, and feel no symptoms.

when i got to the hospital from the accident they took 2 CT of my brain. Why didnt it show up there? Is it that new?

do these things grow fast??

could i just not worry about it since i feel okay?

thank you,

rebecca

Ct scans have lower resolution than MRIs, so many pit tumors, especially microadenomas(less than 10mm)aren't detected.

I don't believe you should ignore it.

You should find out where it is. If growth will cause complications. And most importantly what is causing it.Is it secretory or not? If secretory, which hormone is responsible for growth?

I had almost no symptoms. After reading others stories, i'm grateful that early diagnosis and treatment has saved me from the trauma and complications of mass effects caused by pituitary tumors.

What advise did the doctor with your MRI give?
